If you go to New Orleans you have to experience the Cafe Du Monde for Beignets and a café au lait. Located next to Jackson Square, It is a very busy place with open air tables and a sidewalk jazz band for entertainment. Relax and don't be in a hurry just enjoy the ambience.

This place is a must stop in New Orleans. The coffee and milk is great but the beignets are what you go for, they are excellent but covered in white powered sugar. So tip for the day do not wear black clothes cause you will look like the Dough Boy when you finish.

This is a place you go because of its reputation. There is usually a long line so be prepared to wait. I don't think it's worth waiting for fried flour and powdered sugar when their are plenty of other restaurants with beignets and chicory coffee. They are really all the same. They get a lot of business and the owner... More

This popular coffee shop draws everyone in for their famous beignets. These fried dough creations are covered with powdered sugar. They were like our NY Italian zeppilies. We enjoyed ourselves while listening to the odd street performer that stops by to try and entertain the crowd. I'm ashamed to admit that we did stop by several times over the course... More

Like Junior's in Brooklyn and other famous eateries, there are long lines and high prices, but it is a must-see part of being in "Nawlins."

My wife and I took my grandkids for a late beignet lunch at Café Du Monde. The only negative was the line to get it.. that is just part of it... slow to get service because it was packed but all and all it did not take that long to get it and get out considering the crowd.. The beignets... More

Certainly one of the best beignets around. Sit down services seems faster than carryout, and the place is always jammed with people. It's fun, but really crowded. We only had cafe au lait (excellent) and beignets. Enjoy.

Not much on the menu, but the beignets are outstanding. I was going to share an order, but at the last moment changed my mind and got an order of my own. It was the right call.

We ate here in the late morning and it was very crowded. The only thing they serve is beignets. We ate there because it seemed like it was just a place you had to try when in New Orleans, but would not go back. Service is very slow because it's so packed. The beignets themselves were very good though.

Always a great treat to go to CdM. Loaded with history and the beignets never disappoint. Consistent. I always get my parents a box of beignet mix and tin of coffee grounds for a "thank you gift" for keeping our children.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
