My now husband had to bring his Northern love to this awesome place..... It is filled with lively staff and awesome coffee and these fluffy doughnut type pastries covered in powdered sugar, if you dont wear the sugar on your shirt while eating those treats then you didn't eat them right....

After you sit down, just observe how inconsistent their servers are. There are extremely rude ones that could care less about their jobs, and there are ones that are smiling and nice to their customers. I noticed one guy shouting "Just sit anywhere!!!" to people who would ask him where to sit. He didn't even look at them, and he... More

Cafe du Monde Beignets are the best! We avoided this place due to the line up, but finally visited on a cold and rainy morning before the crowds came out. We shook off the excess powdered sugar to reveal the crunchy but soft little pillows of bliss.

Long lines for fried sugar. The chicory coffee with milk was ok. We had to try the donuts though crossed it off the bucket list. No tables available so we sat on nearby bench and watched the people

Any mention of New Orleans always seems to suggest that a trip there is incomplete without trying the beignets and cafe-au-lait at Cafe Du Monde. We were not impressed! The service was the least friendly of any where we ate in New Orleans, and to food the only disappointing dish we sampled and the only place we felt rushed. The... More

The best beignets in town. The cafe across from Jackson Square is tremendously busy so pick your time to visit carefully. Morning and late night are tough. You can find smaller Cafe DuMonds in some of fthe shopping venues downtown. Usually no wait.

The food and atmosphere are perfect. YES, it is crowded, but in a good way. Friendly and talkative location and oh so good food and coffee. The beignets were soo sweet and soo good! My first time and would so love to go back for more (especially the beignets).

Everyone needs to eat here while visiting the area. It definitely gets crowded... if you can't find a table, stand in the "to go" line. The beignets and coffee are delicious!

A must for tourists just be prepared to wait in line. Super delish food. The service can be slow but worth the wait. Cash only. Take a walk down to the French market or across the street to the St Louis Cathedral.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
