After being told be all of our friends & family that we must go to cafe du monde while in New Orleans we visited. Needless to say we were not disappointed. The line was only 20 minutes long. We enjoyed visiting with the other people who were in line. The beignets were fresh & delicious. This is definitely a must... More

This was something on our must do list and we were not disappointed. This open area cafe was delightful and the beignets were heavenly. Our cute waitress "My" from Vietnam has worked there for 38 years and was a delight. Get there early because the lines start to form after 9:00 am. It is open 24 hours a day.

Just go. It's one of a kind. The beignets are very good (but be prepared to make a mess), and the atmosphere is unique. A must stop for any NOLA visit.

Extremely limited menu, crowded and limited seating, but if you go to New Orleans stopping by Café Du Monde for Beignets and Chicory Coffee is a must; especially if it is your first trip. On this trip we were able to just walk in and get a table without a wait but this was the first time that happened. Service... More

If you come to New Orleans you have to eat here at least once or your trip would not be complete. This is a staple that everyone needs to try. It is great for a trip with the kids, or a couple out on the town, business, not for long probably, It is just to much fun with anyone. And... More

That is my best tip for you! Cafe Du Monde seems to be the powdered sugar capital of the world. We sat in the open-air section of the cafe which was busy and crowded and included a couple of sugar-addicted pigeons at our feet. The beignets (pronounced ben-YAYs) and coffee were good. Everyone should try it at least once.

Don't miss!! Must do when in NOLA. Coffee, beignet, forget cafe beignet, don't even bother, this is the best.

Nothing like a warm donut covered with powdered sugar and a cup of cafe au lait to wash it down. Continues to be a standby every time we come to visit.

It's everything you heard of about NOLA. The heart of where it belongs, classic and old fashioned, a part of Americana history

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
