Last minute decision to get away from Bourbon street and we were craving good seafood! The hush puppies were delish! My husband and I split the lobster roll per the recommendation of the server! It was 2lbs of pure lobster perfection! Casual, sat at bar and the drinks were amazing!

We were busy passing by and stopped in for a drink. They have a huge outdoor patio and live bands. So it was a nice spot for a sunny Sunday. They have 5 hurricane levels. Level 1 is very mild, which is what I needed after a weekend of drinking. My husband got the Southern Cooler and liked it too.... More

The service was pretty bad. We had what we thought was our server who took our drink orders and delivered them, then took our food order. Out of nowhere a new server came up and told us that he was our server and was caught in a jam and apologized. No big deal I thought, I used to serve and... More

We ate a late lunch at this location, not realizing at first it was related to Poppy's Tim Out across the plaza, which had extremely slow service. However, the difference was that while the food and drink were about the same as at the other, the service here was fast and efficient.

Wow! After trying to eat at several places around the riverfront but with no luck, we decided to try Poppy's. Was I ever pleasantly surprised! We ordered the shrimp, catfish and a big salad. Everything was excellent!!! The service was outstanding and it was so nice to eat right by the water. Would highly recommend and we will definitely return... More

Stopped in for lunch before flight. I wish we would have eaten there sooner - it was that good. We ate appetizers for lunch. Alligator bites, shrimp cocktail and crab cakes. All were really and nice sized portions. There are many more things I would like to have on our next visit. Service was excellent.

This restaurant appeared to be a nice place to stop and eat after walking through the mall. It took close to 30 minutes to be seated, and even far from where the band was playing, the noise level made it too loud to have a conversation. When the drinks finally arrived, my drink had a piece of Styrofoam in it.... More

You can dine here or just stop for drinks. It's near the river and a good place for people watching. Sit outside under a roof if the weather is good. My party of 4 stopped here just for drinks buts when I saw the man shucking those oysters, I ordered a half dozen priced at $9.They were very large oysters,... More

We tried this restaurant on the last night of our stay and were glad we did. Since it was a little cool and windy we chose to sit inside rather than the open air section. We had a great view of the riverwalk and the river and the band started up right when our food arrived. The food was very... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
