I did not eat here while it was just a restaurant; we were a Galvez as guests of a wedding in March. The staff was great and helpful. The food was decent and the drinks great. This is definitely a great restaurant to hold a wedding as it's spacious and has great views.

Struggled the first time coming here, it was closed for a private event (no signage). Traditional wait staff, only a few other tables when we went over a holiday weekend. Sangria was petty tasty, had a few appetizers with a very nice presentation, paella tasted authentic, nice calm meal overlooking the river.

This restaurant has a beautiful view of the Mississippi River and the food is ok. However, the whole experience was strange. It is hard to find where to go because you have to take an elevator up to the restaurant. Once inside, we thought we were in the wrong place because it was empty. We found it comical that reservations... More

This restaurant is off the path and easy to miss. Very upscale and has a beautiful view of the Mississippi! Buttttt...that's about it! This restaurant has so much potential to be a very nice place. The food was not very Spanish as it is described and the service was non existent. Paella was ok. Ceviche was good. Plates and toppers... More

View fantastic but the food and service - I do not have the words to describe. Patatas Fritas - seemed like frozen potatoes from Costco, same with the albondigas. Lack of flavor in everything. The music was loud, could not carry on a conversation without shouting. Waiter was one of the worse encountered. Too many great restaurants in New Orleans... More

Where our friends got married was gorgeous. The food and drink selection was also amazing! My favorite part was probably where the wedding was held, in a room that has a gray, cloudy sky painted on the top of the ceiling. There are large windows and doors where you can walk outside and enjoy the atmosphere of new orleans.

A lovely place right by the riverfront. Had some ceviche, fried cassava and bacon wrapped grilled shrimp. They were simply delicious! We also ordered the Paella Valencia which was scrumptious. We went on a Tuesday evening and the service was a bit slow however the maitre d' / bartender was very apologetic about it since they were short on staff... More

Mother's Day 2015, 1st time and probably the last time. Service was extremely slow, we didn't place our order until 30 mins after arrival, which was the same time we received our bottomless mimosas which were not kept refreshed. The place was not crowded, there were 3 tables not even being used. The food was good, and the views were... More

We have been several times, always in the evening. We always request to sit by the windows, which have a fantastic view onto the river and the bridge. The food is always good, we have liked all the things we have tried. The sangria is alright, a little too sweet, but always come with plenty of fresh fruit in the... More

Galvez Restaurant has the privilege of occupying one the most beloved venue spaces in the French Quarter. Many generations of New Orleanians have shared wonderful memories within the walls of this beautiful venue. Galvez is committed to honoring those wonderful memories, and to creating many more to come.
We are the French Quarter's best Riverfront dining venue featuring continental Spanish, French, and Creole cuisine with an outstanding array of mouth-watering tapas. Whether it is for a special celebratory dinner, or a Sunday afternoon brunch, the simple and honest flavor of our food will keep you coming back for more. Looking for the perfect accompaniment for your meal? Our full service bar boasts a complete array of specialty cocktails, most notably Chef Laura's Home Made Sangria.
And did we mention that we have the prettiest dining room in the city? The Casa Roja overlooks the beautiful, moon lit Mississippi River. Our lover's corner, a lush and quiet corner with access to a small private balcony, is a perfect spot for anniversaries, romantic dinner dates, and wedding proposals.
In essence, Galvez is the perfect choice for a romantic dinner for two, a relaxing brunch, or sharing a table full of tapas, family-style.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
