One of our favorite places in Nola, The Rum House has a diverse and modern menu with indoor and outdoor dining. The piled-high nachos are an indulgent treat with the best queso in town. A great home base to explore Magazine Street.

Selected this due to its high TripAdvisor ratings. TA didn't steer us wrong! Must order the cheese dip! Had the brisket taco and the jerk chicken taco, veggies, and palenta. One of the best meals I had while in New Orleans.

Great stop along a nice stroll down magazine street. Tacos are great. Get a few to try. I stayed veggie and was not disappointed. My brother loved the brisket and the lamb. Also start with the mango guacamole, excellent. ENJOY!!!

Great restaurant in an upscale neighborhood. The food was divine. The service was ok. Very loud!! Parking a hassle but the ribs were worth the hardship.

This place really shocked me in the sense that the best parts of my dinner were not the parts I was expecting to be wowed by. Not only are the happy hour specials amazing when you can catch them but the sides dishes were literally some of the best things I have eaten here in New Orleans. In my opinion... More

I had the steak tacos and pork mole tacos upon recommendation from our server. The coconut mango rice was absolutely fabulous and did not disappoint. I NEED the recipe!. The black beans with chorizo relish were good as well. The mojitos were fresh and muddled to perfection. Got the roasted salsa as an appetizer and it was the perfect start... More

We stopped here after walking around the garden district. The service was great and tacos were super tasty! We ordered a bunch of different tacos because it was taco Tuesday and we were not disappointed. All the sides were delicious too. We highly recommend the coconuts mango rice and fried plantains!

This was our first trip to Magazine Street in New Orleans and It was wonderful! We stayed in an Inn on Felicity Street and walked to The Rum House, which was a bit of a hike, but WOW, what a walk! The houses and shops were awesome! When we arrived the restaurant was quite busy, so we sat at the... More

The coldest snap in New Orleans recent memory and we found our way here. It was a busy Saturday, all the tables full, the bar was lined up and was only noon! Families and friends enjoying great fare everywhere at the Rum House. Now, normally I never wait for a seat, not self important, I just go find the next... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
