I went to this location around 900 AM and the place was bustling. I sat at the counter and the waitress there said everyone seemed to arrive at once. Good solid coffee, friendly service and excellent poached eggs contributed to the four star rating. The heavy "buttermilk" biscuit seems to be a new trend at several area breakfast spots. The... We ate here on our last day and wished we had found it sooner! We were lucky and didn't have to wait in line for a table. Excellent service. Our waiter (Derek I think) took the time to explain different items and how they were cooked. Lots of traditional comfort food.

This place was crowded nearly every morning especially after 7am. When we arrived (6:45) we were seated promptly and our server was quick on our drinks and answered questions about the menu. I ordered the St Charles breakfast which was one homemade biscuit (split) with two small chicken breast on each have with two poached eggs on them. They are... More

I can't say enough about the Ruby Slipper. We ended up having brunch there twice during our five day stay at The Pelham next door and, though daunted by the wait time at first, discovered that the food is delicious and completely addictive. The Eggs Benedicts are better than any I've had elsewhere. Of the Benedicts, the Eggs Cochon is... More

We had brunch here this morning...was planning on breakfast but the wait was over an hour to get a seat at the bar! It was so, so delicious though. Totally worth the wait. For this particular location, I'd suggest putting your name on the list and then downloading the "No Wait" app on your smart phone---it will tell you exactly... More

We ate at the Ruby Slipper on Canal Street when we were in NOLA last year and loved it. This time we tried the Magazine Street location. Same great food and busy atmosphere. We love the 3-egg omelettes, but there are so many options to choose from. Expect a wait of an hour plus if you are there during prime... More

I had the stuffed French toast and my husband had the 3 pig omelette. It was all very, very good, but the grits were out of this world good!! Our waitress was great and very attentive.

Slight wait so we walked around Magazine Street for a bit...Cute little restaurant with a wonderful story behind it.(See photo) The food was very good, although they did leave out some veggies I requested in my omelette. Overall, the staff was wonderful and the food delicious. Recommend you give this spot a try.

We come to the ruby slippers every time we're in NOLA now because it's that good. We've been to the location in the CBD and the new one on Magazine. Both great food but we like the CBD space more. GO THERE!! GET THE CANDIED BACON!!!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
