Ventured off of the sidewalk of Royal St into a beautiful courtyard, on the recommendation of a friend. Plus on the menu as you can see for yourself is listed simply "French Fries and Champagne". Soup of the night was heaven in a cup; hearty,...More

It is hard to find a table if you do not reserve in advance. That's why we sat at the bar and it turned out to be the best choice. We had a few cocktails and appetisers. The bartenders were wonderful and so were the...More

Checked this place out one night on a whim. Oh my goodness it was incredible. We had been eating so many heavy, super rich meals so I ordered the chick syl-vain sandwich despite some ribbing from our server (who was awesome, by the way). So...More

This is one to cherish. In an otherwise rather touristy part of NOLA, Sylvain is a characterful little bistro. The starters are especially apt for grazing as the long wooden bar. I had the stuffed banana pepper and veal sweetbreads plus a '20th Century' cocktail....More

While we were shopping our first morning, we stumbled across this place. We thought we would try it even though it was not on our recommended list prepared ahead of time. What a fantastic decision. JR and Royale were two of the nicest people we...More

First off, make a reservation if you can! This restaurant is very small and very popular, so you could be waiting for an hour or more without one. The space is very cool, service was good, and the food was all very unique and tasty...More

Visiting from Australia, we came here for dinner and had the best beef cheeks that we had ever had! Chill almonds as a starter were so moorish. Very friendly & helpful staff -- would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting New Orleans!

This was was fantastic. The portions were fair, drinks were delicious. The staff was accommodating and very helpful with suggestions. We had a large party and food was delicious and quality did not suffer. I would have easily split my meal with a friend.

We had pushed through lunch while exploring Jackson Square. We started looking for places to eat and notice Sylvain, but they closed at 2pm. It was 2:05. Let's try it anyway. They could not have been nicer!! Got us to a table in the bar...More

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living

We do not have a dress code, and you are free to come in anything you are comfortable in. We do keep the AC going indoors, so bring a sweater if it rains!

Recommended on busy days. We went without one, spoke to the Maitre D' and got the "heads up" about a couple at the bar who were about to be seated. We hung nearby and grabbed their bar seats and then ate at the bar, which... More
