I'm vegetarian and I was looking for some spots and found Carmo. Carmo was amazing- my mom and I had lunch there and it was affordable, healthy and delicious. There were options for a variety of dietary needs. Definitely try the juice! Carmo had a great vibe, and is environmentally friendly. Plus its near the WWII museum and the convention... More

Carmo serves a fun, healthy fusion of foods--seafood, Cajun, American, tropical, South American, vegan dishes, exotic fresh juices. The special of the day was a shrimp curry. Since everything appears to be made fresh, we missed the curry because we arrived in between batches and didn't want to wait. But the Esmerelda Salad that my wife ordered was very tasty,... More

Fabulous tasty fare in downtown New Orleans. Healthy vegan and vegetarian offerings besides other stuff. Tastefully presented with nice dining area. Nouveau yet chic. Young people abound. For a different experience definitely try Carmo. You won't be disappointed

We recently went to this quirky restaurant filled with funky art and super friendly staff. Tremendous drinks list. My friend ordered and enjoyed the best lemon drop of her life. Lots of yummy specials. Do not miss it. I am a foodie and this was my favorite meal over 4 days in NOLA, the city of great food!!

This is a restaurant serving vegan, vegetarian, and other organic and natural dishes. It was near the WWII museum so we gave it a shot for lunch. When you enter you are handed a menu and a server recites the specials. Then you order and pay at the register. You get your own water from a tray and your own... More

This low-key eatery is full of tropical fare which will suit any palate. We tried the flat-bread appetizer and it was big enough for an entree. The black-eyed pea fritters covered in shrimp were great.

My husband and I both enjoyed this quirky little cafe. I'm vegetarian, he's not, and there was something for both of us. I had the Carmo Salad, he had the daily special which was a Gumbo, and we both had juice drinks from fruits we'd never heard of before. The pricing was reasonable, and the cafe was significantly cleaner than... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
