We walked to it for a late lunch. Place has a nice old Irish Pub feel. Great food and good size servings.

It was just perfect! My fiancé and I stayed for Halloween in New Orleans and this lovely restaurant was our perfect place for our daily brunch! Irish music all day long, just amazing! Betty, the bartender, is the best, she is just great and we will definitely come back again. We tried several dishes such as the Shepherd Pie, Leek... More

The Guinness was excellent, served cold and perfectly poured. The waitress was pleasant, polite and kept nodding at me. My partner then explained that she did not understand my Irish accent, that made all three of us smile. There are some lovely old pictures and photos on the walls, although some were not related to Ireland. The 1903 article of... More

My husband and I came by here to kill some time before our flight, so we sat at the bar. They offer THE largest selection of Irish Whiskey in the country, and chef is a Chopped Champion. Betty the bartender was so hospitable and provided the best service. My husband was in heaven with the range of Irish Whiskey to... More

I love a good Irish bar/restaurant, and this place nails it! The Irish House has a nice atmosphere; very authentic. The food is amazing!! I had the Irish Gumbo first visit-had a nice little kick to it, and had a rich flavor about it. This would be a wonderful go-to meal for cold weather. The Irish coffee is by far... More

Our reservation was for NYE 16, we were looking for a good meal away from Bourbon St. I'd read and heard good things about this pub and it's chef. On arrival the host was very disorganised, with the greeting I already felt unsure of the evening. The menu was set with 3 selections per course. Except for the soup the... More

Actually we didn't have dinner here but came for drinks, dessert and music one night. All were good and would revisit BUT there are so many other places to try and dine.

My partner and I stopped off at the Irish House on our last day in New Orleans. We had spotted it whilst riding the St Charles Avenue streetcar & fancied a quick afternoon drink. We got talking to the lovely lady behind the bar who was watching the soccer and it transpires the bar caters for Gluten Free so a... More

The restaurant is very nice quaint and quiet. There was a gentleman playing some very good irish music during our visit but it wasn't to loud or to soft. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced! If I lived there would probably be a weekly visitor. Had the fish and chips, excellent! Wife had shepherds pie, excellent! Just a... More

We came here twice cause tripadvisor said it was good - eh? The food isnt that good, you are in NOLA peps, get out there and enjoy the town. The cottage pie is potatoes and ordinary, the fish and chips could be bought from Walmart. Also one of there is a smartarse bartender, trying to make my folks who are... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
