This is a great place to get to via streetcar, especially in the winter when you might like a warm fire, great atmosphere and hearty Irish fare. There's also live music several nights a week. The beer selection is great. Somewhat pricey at dinner time, but we always enjoy or meal.

We didn't do a great job of planning meals on our visit to New Orleans, so we chose the Irish House because it was close to our B&B and seemed like a reasonable place for a meal. We did enjoy the authentic Irish food, but the side order of fries (chips) was not fresh and really should not have been... More

After a very long morning walk we were really looking forward to having some lunch. My partner had the "fish in crispy batter" and I had the corned beef sandwich. Sorry to say the fish was not covered in the nice bubbly batter we expected, nor did the fish resemble anything I would call fish. It was soggy, bland, the... More

I was recently in NOLA and staying in a VRBO nearby. One evening I was on my own and thought I would stop into a pub for a beer and some food. The establishment seemed inviting but when I went in a young lady at the entrance asked if she could help me. I asked for a table and she... More

I almost didn't go to The Irish House because I figured you didn't go to New Orleans for Irish food. Thank goodness, I went. It was a lovely cool night and the windows were open allowing the lively music to drift out. The interior has the feeling of a well loved family pub with a well run kitchen and friendly... More

If you want first class Irish food, this is the place to go, but go for lunch unless you don't mind spending a lot. Great food, large selection of beers and extensive liquor selection. Top notch service and super friendly.

Very nice Irish pub. We had an actual Irish waiter. Good beers and good food. The wife and I had the fish and chips. Very good.

What a find! Happened upon this jewel while riding the Green Line Trolley. Great Happy Hour deals Monday to Friday from 3 to 6. Select food deals and alcohol on for half-price. The best, by far, pint of Guinness in New Orleans and a tremendous selection of quality whiskies (93 different brands). A Traditional session every Monday starting at 7pm... More

The food here is good, the atmosphere is authentically Irish and their Irish whisky selection can't be beat. They have Irish music several nights per week. Easy to get to on the street car.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
