I'm so glad my daughter shared this great fine with me. Only open a few hours for lunch closes for a few hours and reopens for dinner. Owners work there so you know the service is wonderful. BEST cuban sandwich in New Orleans and this is coming from a Cuban lady. This place serves mexican and cuban. I asked why... More

Sarita's Grill is a gem! They have the most authentic Cuban cuisine in New Orleans. The restaurant is small but genuine. The staff makes you feel like family. You must try the Havana plate. The pork is unbelievably flavorful. This is a must stop for lunch if you are in town!

We were biking on Freret Street and stopped to walk - a lot of restaurants and shops in improving area of town near Tulane University. We had the Super Bowl, Chicken Quesidillas and side of black beans at Sarita's. All very tasty, grilled meats on dishes excellent, very fresh ingredients and generous portions. Our lunch, with cold drinks was around... More

Sarita's has a plain and even "tumbledown" exterior and interior appearance (a dive?). The waitress was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Steak Tacos, and they were simply delicious. My partners remarked that their orders (flautas and the Steak Plate) were also very good and enjoyable. The appetizer chips, cheese sauce, and salsa were also quite nice. I would recommend... More

This place has great home style Cuban Food in a nice, relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place as a place with simple, but very good food, and a nice, friendly staff. The owners are almost always there and working hard to bring you some great food.

Hole in the wall place, but the fish tacos were amazing. It was fun because you could get 3 different tacos on the same plate. Margaritas were 2 for 1 but they tasted weak and kind of fake. I'd go there again when craving mexican food.

a Latin fusion restaurant -- to (ignorant) me, a Mexican restaurant with a difference. Good food, lots of flavors, well-prepared. Not very expensive -- the largest entree was a $12 chicken and steak bowl, with beans, guacamole, etc. I had it twice, delicious both times. And on a weekend visit they had 2-for-1 price margaritas! The atmosphere is exactly what... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
