Elegant atmosphere right off of Bourbon. Staff was very attentive, friendly, and talkative. Lobster dumplings were rich and flavorful. I ordered the yellowfin and husband had the Mississippi red fish. The tuna was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables and rice were perfect. The Mississippi red fish was flaky, tender and the fried plantains were amazing! The bread pudding was the... More

Although this restaurant requires a reservation, we were lucky enough to be accommodated for dinner since they had a cancellation. We started with the lobster dumplings and the tuna tacos for appetizers. Those lobster dumplings were so delicious, we ordered a second portion. No wonder people talk about those things. These are a must have. We then went on to... More

This restaurant was only a hundred metres from our hotel, and rated highly on TripAdvisor so we decided to try it out, and we're so glad we did. We had a marvellous time, the food was impeccable and the service was five-star. For starters, I had the Crispy Pork Belly that was accompanied by watermelon. Presentation was A+ and the... More

My husband and I were visiting New Orleans just prior to Valentine's Day. This was our first trip and we decided to celebrate at GW Fins, based on the great reviews here on TA. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated promptly. The restaurant was very busy, and we enjoyed watching the activity taking place once we were... More

If you have a special occasion, let them know when you make reservations. They do a special table setting and souvenir menu. These chefs do sauces right! Every one was perfection--flavor, consistency, color. Extensive wine list with some very reasonably priced wines by the glass. Complimentary hot biscuits that are so very good, and soft creamy butter. I would recommend... More

Our first experience at GW Fins was a hit. We had reservations , but had about a 20 min wait in the bar/lounge where we had the best martinis ever. For dinner I chose from the menu the Scalibut - GW Fins Original Halibut, Sea Scallops, lobster risotto, snow peas, pea shoot butter. All elements of the meal were prepared... More

This commitment to freshness and variety are two of the many reasons GW Fins prints its menu daily and has received numerous glowing reviews in The Times-Picayune (4 beans), Food & Wine, Southern Living and Esquire magazines. Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
