Muriel’s offers excellent gluten free food in a traditional French Quarter restaurant. It can be difficult finding g-f food in the Quarter, and food is a big reason why you visit NOLA. I was pleased to be given a g-f menu with appetizer, entree and dessert options. When your entree is served, it is presented on a marked plate so the servers know it’s g-f. Now, on to the food. The pork chop with a sugar cane apple glaze is amazing. It is served with a sweet potato and pecan mash and the most tender greens I have ever had. The flourless chocolate cake is good, but I’ve had it many places. The cream brûlée is fantastic and distinctly New Orleans. We visited the restaurant during the Sugar Bowl/New Years window, so the service was a bit slow, but I enjoyed the ambience of the bar and dining room. Don’t forget to check out the Seance Room upstairs!

Having had a drink here the day before we decided, having had a look around, that we would like to eat here & so made a reservation for 8pm Sunday evening. The food was lovely, tasty, very well presented & good value. We had a half bottle of wine & Cava cocktail again they were good value. Our issue was the noise in the restaurant, it ruined the ambience but worse still the temperature of the restaurant, it was freezing, so much so, on a cold New Orleans evening it was warmer outside than in. Twice we complained, but one of the maitre d’ didn’t seem interested, I have found on this trip that shops & restaurants are all about the staff & not the customer & this was another example of this. Being British, we got dressed up to go for dinner, we were in the minority, this restaurant should have a dress code & maybe give lessons on how to use a knife & fork!! So, great food, good value but the chef is being let down by front of house

Often a restaurant in the epicenter of the tourist district is overrated and should be avoided as a rip off. Muriel’s is the exception to that generality. Beautiful interior, great service, custom crafted drinks ( I had a wonderful famous Ramos Gin Fizz), and excellent food (a double pork chop with greens and sweet potato) made the meal worth the definite splurge.

Travelling with an 11 year old. We walked in here after a whole day of walking and standing around Mardi Gras parades. We had no reservation, there was space, so we sat down. My husband felt it was a bit over the top with the table clothes, so we asked if they serve the same food in the other more pub looking part of the restaurant, but they somehow didn't wanna move us there, so we stayed. We went for some 3 course combo. The food was good, although we freaked out about turtle soup. We are tourists from Europe and it was our first sit down meal in NOLA, so seeing a turtle soup on the menu stirred some concerns in our heads. The waitress looked shocked that we would question the soup and said "everyone in NOLA serves turtle soup", anyway, she called another waiter who said these were swamp turtles, snapping turtles or whatever else turtles and not sea turtles. We still felt it was a bit wrong to offer turtle soup. The meal was fine, but for what it cost, I think it wasn't worth it. Not that we did not enjoy it, just felt it was overpriced, that is all.

I could probably give a rating of 3 1/2 if TA would allow, but no more, unfortunately. Service was OK although some empty plates were still on the table when the bill was presented. The food was good.....however....somewhat expensive.....2 appetizer crepes, shrimp & grits (7 medium sized shrimp) and bread pudding for $44.95. Seems somewhat expensive for what was served. All of the menu choices seemed to be on the high side. I have recommended this place to many people, but this experience leaves me wondering if I will do so in the future.

Most times when we visit NOLA, we are sure not to miss lunch at Muriel's. It has been very good in the past, but when we visited yesterday for brunch, it was just ... average. My boyfriend ordered the three course brunch and I had a salad and a main. The service was off, it just took a long time for each course - for example, at least 20 minutes for his dessert to come out after we finished our entrees. My BF liked his seafood gumbo but his entree (a breakfast po-boy) he said was underwhelming. My entree - the pesto linguine with shrimp was average as well. It looked really inviting on the plate, but it was way too salty and the shrimp were a bit overdone. I can make it better at home. We feel we paid way too much and there are better restaurants we will try.

I went to Muriel's for dinner my first night in New Orleans-it is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and did not disappoint. I had requested a table by the window, and all the window tables were covered with drapes that surrouned the tables so it felt like you were in your own private room. I had the prix fix dinner that included an appetizer of an onion tart, shrimp and grits and the chocolate tart for dessert. Everything was excellent.

Muriel's is first class top to bottom. We came with two of our best friends on a 4 day visit to NOLA. Make a reservation a good bit ahead of time (open table) to make sure you get a seat. We had turtle soup, pecan crusted salmon, gumbo and the bread pudding is a must dessert. We had the Riesling with our meal (go ahead and get the bottle if you are going to have a couple of glasses). The servers (you have two including a sommelier) were excellent. While in NOLA try the Sazerac (Muriel's has one). The cost is well worth the visit. We got the three course meal for $44 (appetizer, meal, dessert) and we shared it (but got an extra dessert). You can also do a-la-cart.

The group I traveled with had a reservation at Muriel's. When we arrived, we were taken upstairs to conjoining rooms, and hors d'oeuvres and adult beverages were served. I got tired of saying no thanks to the servers. Once we were finally seated, each course of the meal was tasty and filling. The servers were polite and attentive to our needs. The dessert was outstanding as well!

We wanted a typical Creole food experience, in elegant surroundings. Muriel’s delivered. We had crab, oysters, turtle soup, chocolate cake, and great cocktails. The night we we there, they had a special 3 dishes for $40 deal and that value is hard to beat, since the food is high quality. Do make reservations.

I rarely ever post a review but if you are looking for a great restaurant in town it is Muriel's. I like to be experimental with my meals but this particular Saturday, 11/14 morning\afternoon wanted a true brunch experience. Thanks to both and I mean both our servers Samantha and Ryan delivered amazing combination duo service beyond anything I had ever experienced. Their knowledge of the menu options and recommendations on the food choices are having my mouth water at the very thought as I am typing this review. Ryan recommended the roasted chicken and it was AMAZING! My two besties and I started it off with the Eggs Veney as an appetizer and shared it until there was nothing on the plate, it paired wonderful with a Cinnamon margarita but the star of the show was the delicious plump shrimp that tasted fresh out of the water with the creamiest grits I had ever tasted in my life. Then after all that we washed them down with great mimosas and topped it off with a bread pudding which made me want to slap someone's Mama. Muriel you truly delivered an amazing experience!

Muriel’s has been my go-to spot for my birthday brunch for several years. They always humor us when we arrive in 1920s attire and the service has always been spectacular. They know how to make a person feel celebrated! The entire brunch menu seems to be stellar, but the real star of the show here is the shrimp and grits. Coupled with the jazz music of the Sunday morning brunch, it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Happy to see it’s coming back safely and responsibly during COVID, we were all temperature checked before being seated, and our waitress was incredibly kind, despite the fact that we were only ordering drinks and not food (this go-round). She happily accommodated a drink that wasn’t on the menu as well, made the entire experience level-up. As a local, I’m not a huge fan of the French Quarter, but I make an exception for Muriel’s every time. See you soon, y’all!

What an amazing experience. When we arrived at the restaurant, we didn’t realize that our reservation was not for that day. But instead of turning us away, they accommodated us and sat us right away. We were celebrating our twin daughters birthday, which I had noted on the reservation. The girls were immediately greeted with happy birthdays and in the desserts we ordered they each had a candle. We didn’t have to say a word. They made the girls feel so special. Such class. The food matched the experience. The turtle soup is delicious. Along with pork chop. And bread pudding. All in all it was the highlight dining experience of our trip. Thank you Muriel’s! Oh and don’t forget to see the table set for the ghost and visit the cool seance room

We held our rehearsal dinner at Muriel’s. I wasn’t sure what to expect because this is my first time getting married and arranging any of these kinds of events. Muriel’s exceeded my expectations in every way. We had the Seance lounge for cocktails for 30 minutes and were welcomed with a tray of assorted wines and champagnes (I hadn’t even arranged to have that done and was so surprised and absolutely loved it). It definitely adds to the experience to be greeted with a tray of drinks when you walk in the door! The entire evening the staff was nothing but superb and professional. They were quiet and didn’t interfere at all other than giving the utmost outstanding customer service and constantly refilling cocktails. My 9 and 10 year old nephews were two little monsters fighting and chasing each other around and the staff just ignored them. We had a 4 course meal and the courses came out at excellent timing intervals throughout the evening to where everyone had plenty of time to continue socializing and digest between courses. First course was a choice of the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crepes or the Onion and Leek Tart. The Second course was the Muriels Salad. The Third course was a choice between the Filet Mignon or the Shrimp and Grits. The Fourth course was the Flourless Chocolate Cake. All of the food was absolutely phenomenal. Every single person RAVED about every part of our meal. The Onion and Leek tart was a showstopper and everyone said that was their favorite part of the meal because they were so shocked by how absolutely delicious it was. I had the Shrimp and Goat Cheese crepes and they were amazing. Literally everything was amazing including the salad! I don’t even know how it’s possible to make a bed of greens taste so good. My mom and father in law are two of the biggest food snobs and harshest critics that I know and they were OBSESSED with everything and had nothing but endless compliments. My sister said she just wanted to get a cot and sleep in Muriel’s so she could stay forever lol. All in all a wonderful experience and highly recommend for a Rehearsal Dinner venue. Our main waiter was Ryan I believe and he and his staff were just superb. Thank you so much Muriel’s for making it the most perfect evening!! Im still in shock over it lol

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
