Ashamed it's taken me so long to write this; we were here just before Mardi Gras. It had been recommended by a few people and when we saw how busy it was, we were glad we'd made our reservation a few weeks in advance.
The 4 course brunch menu is extensive and great value considering all you get included (as well as the copious amounts of extra bread we ordered to soak up the delicious cocktails). All of the food was excellent (I had the Shrimp Arnaud, salad, Eggs Adrienne and Crepes Suzette) but I feel like the experience at Arnauds is about so much more than just the food. The atmosphere was electric with a lot of Mardi Gras revellers enjoying the live jazz in the room and watching the madness unfolding outside the window.
My favourite thing about Arnauds was the service; from Jonny O, who kept us topped up with bread and butter; to Misty, who put on a wonderful display for us while preparing our crepes suzette, to the lovely Shane, who surprised us with a guided tour of the Mardi Gras museum upstairs. It was the true definition of New Orleanian hospitality.
It's not often I get the opportunity to linger over brunch for 4 hours but I wish it was something I could do more often. It is definitely something I look forward to repeating at Arnauds whenever I get the chance to visit again.

We stopped by on the evening of Dec. 29 for drinks and we’re beyond delighted by the charming old school ambiance of the bar and warmth of the bartender (wish we could remember his name).
There are about 8 stools around the bar which made for a very intimate atmosphere; some couples were eating dinner or having dessert.
The bartender was so kind and attentive to us. We described what kind of flavour drink We wanted and he came up with a couple of different drinks that were perfect for our palate. He was truly excellent in all ways!
They brought around a dessert cart where they made flambed bananas and ice cream etc. They were delicious as was the Creme brûlée.
This bar is a gem in NOLA and not to be missed.

If 6 stars were available, this restaurant would deserve 7! Lets just say everything is perfect. From the moment you are escorted to your table in this 100 plus year old restaurant to the time you leave, you will have entered into a "dining experience" like you have never seen. The wait staff is impeccably dressed in black tuxedos, the silver setting gleams, with nary a smudge of soap or fingerprints. The menu while predominately seafood is the best. Pompano, redfish, and frog legs which are rarely seen on a menu are staples here. Presentation and quality are at the top. The french bread from Leidenheimer Baking, is so good you have to restrain yourself from eating a whole loaf. Service is so timely that when you begin to think about a refill of water, or removal of a dish...it happens. Just don't miss this experience if you are in New Orleans.

Was in NOLA on business and decided to see what was available during these trying times. Saw that Arnaud’s was open and decided to revisit the site of many fine meals in my past. Looked on Open Table and saw reservations were available for every time slot from open to close. Arrived (after a walk through a creepy & desolate French Quarter) and asked for a table for one. Was asked if I had a reservation and told them reservations weren’t available for solo diners. After some discussion, they took me into the bar despite being able to see that the dining room was a ghost town (it remained so when I left an hour+ later so they couldn’t have been “saving” tables for later-arriving parties). I asked if I could eat at an actual dining room table and was told there was “no availability.” So, I went into the completely empty bar (a loud & drunken young couple finally came in toward the end of my meal and did shots; otherwise it was just me and the bartender) and proceeded to have a $100+ meal (food was good, if uninspired) on a tiny & wobbly table (which was awkward to dine at given the table height was mismatched with the uncomfortable banquette) that could barely fit a plate and glass simultaneously. Coming off a long-term closure and occurring during a night when the restaurant appeared to have more staff than diners, you’d think the restaurant would be happy to have a diner with money to spend. You would be wrong. Katrina didn’t dull the snob-factor of many New Orleans “institutions,” so I guess COVID won’t, either.
Avoid at all costs if you are a solo diner.

My boyfriend and I stopped in at Arnauds on a whim the last night of our vacation in New Orleans. We got a couple of drinks and a light dinner, and very much enjoyed the final meal of our trip. We started with a round of drinks, and I got a glass of rose that I enjoyed very much. My boyfriend got one of his favorite cocktails: a Ramos gin fizz. On our trip he got Ramos gin fizzes at multiple bars around New Orleans, and Arnouds’ was his favorite. He told me It was very flavorful and well balanced, and he suspects they put in slightly more orange blossom water than is typical which added a great layer of additional smell and flavor to the drink. Hands down he says that it was one of the best Ramos gin fizzes he's had anywhere.
For dinner, we shared a Cornish game hen that was quite good, but it took a very long time to come out. So long, in fact, that we went ahead and ordered a chocolate mousse for dessert, received it, and finished it before we even got our main course! We were not terribly disappointed by this, however, since we love chocolate mousse and this one was excellent - very fluffy and flavorful, and encased by a rich chocolate ganache on top and a toffee crust on the bottom.
The service was professional and generally attentive, and the decor and atmosphere was subdued, warm, and inviting. Overall, we very much enjoyed our light meal and drinks at Arnouds, and hope to come back for a larger meal in the future.

Muniere style catch of the day (Sheepshead) was excellent. Also Arnaud Crab cakes and Pompano. Crab Karen was good with interesting pastry presentation but was underwhelming. Bread pudding cam to table cold as if just from frig. Waiter immediately removed from table and bill. Wait service was excellent - Jasper. Drink server was marginally competent and never brought second drink ordered by one diner. When reminded she denied taking order which we all witnessed! Place was packed, but as indiated, waiter was excellent and food was very good. Do not go in evening or weekend brunch without a reservation or you WILL wait in crowded entry. We had reservation and had table quickly.

Food was good but the service was definitely not friendly. We reserved a private dining room with a balcony for my sisters birthday. The space was beautiful but the server seemed annoyed the entire dinner. Her name was Morrica and she clearly did not want to have an upstairs table. A person from our party asked for cracked pepper for her salad and the server said, “I will see what I can do we don’t have the same things upstairs as we do downstairs”. She was not friendly at all during dinner and made it clear that she didn’t want to serve us. She gave no menu suggestions when asked. I was surprised that only one server was working with such a large party. It was really disappointing because we were looking forward to visiting this historic restaurant. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect somewhat friendly service when you are more than willing to pay for it. The crab with cheese was a delicious appetizer and the steak was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed the cheesecake and interesting puffy potatoes. The shrimp bisque had a great flavor. As I said the food and space were great but the negative server was like a cloud over our celebration.

We were really looking forward to dining at this New Orleans institution, but were unfortunately disappointed. The service was phenomenal - so friendly and fun, but the rest of the experience did not live up to our expectations. I know the restaurant has been around for over 100 years and that is part of its attraction, but the atmosphere just seemed dated rather than historical. The food was the biggest disappointment. It was served on smallish plates and reminded me of the food served at my grandmother's retirement home. All kind of mushy and not very tasty. I am a big fan of tradition (some would even call me old fashioned) and I understand the value of keeping good things as they are, but to me Arnauds, is not doing that. It seems that things have just remained stagnant for no good reason. The menu needs to be updated and the food improved in order to keep up with the plethora of great restaurants that provide competition in New Orleans. I am so sorry to report that Arnaud's was not my favorite.

Arnaud's is still a lovely place to eat dinner based on the ambiance and the service but food just doesn't rise to the level that it used to. My sweetbread was very thin and fried and in grease, the Oysters Rockefeller was mostly spinach and sauce with very small oysters. The plate that they were served on was beautiful but scalding hot and we weren't warned. The vegetable side of Soufflé Potatoes was only souffle' in that they were puffed up but should have been on the appetizer menu instead. We ate the next night across the street at GW Fins for the first time and unless Arnauds's wishes to continue to be thought of as a once great New Orleans establishment they need to step up their game.

We had a large group so an upstairs room to ourselves. The menu may have been somewhat limited, but no one complained as each person found wonderful dishes. Appetizers were extraordinary. Service was terrific. The gentlemen who worked with us were knowledgeable and funny. I always appreciate a restaurant that can accommodate a large group and serve food to everyone without a hitch. The Bananas Foster was prepared in the room (with a fire extinguisher available) which was great fun to watch, and then a treat to eat.

Old school decor in a good way, and attentive, well informed staff working as a team, made for great service. Our waiter, Dewey, in particular, was extremely gracious, suggested variations on the menu, and contributed to our time spent there being quite enjoyable. The frog legs and Pompano were very tasty. The puffed potatoes a bit soggy unfortunately. Bread pudding and Strawberry Arnaud were fantastic deserts. Nine wines and after dinner drinks.
Overall strongly recommended!

We discovered Arnaud's sunday brunch over 30 years ago and on a recent visit tested it's staying power to great delight. We enjoyed our eggs benedict (or try eggs sardou), champagne, and jazz immensely. The atmosphere is still rousing, although we miss Sam Alcorn and his trio who were great entertainers. save room for a fabulous bananas foster cooked tableside-- a special treat rare today. ALSO, don't miss the Mardi Gras museum, a rare look into the past glories of the festival and one of the major figures of new Orleans.

This is a great restaurant for business of friends. We had a drink at the bar before entering the place and it was a great experience. Waiters are very nice and make you feel welcomed. I had a fish with shrimp on top (one of their specialties) and green salad which dressing I changed for a vinagre based one and the waiter got what I had in mind with very precisely. And the bread! Oh the bread. Best one I’ve ever had in the US.

Every time we travel to New Orleans we make a reservation to dine at Arnaud’s. Go at 6:00 to their classy French 75 bar before dinner. Their cocktails are unique and delicious. I always order the French 75 and now found a new favorite, the Empress. Loved the monkey lamp so much we found one exactly the same online!
The food and service in the main restaurant was superb. The Arnaud salad, the 5 oyster sampler, meunière fish with the flavorful sauce and the Arnaud’s strawberries were all shared between the two of us. Highly recommend!!!

This is an old classic New Orleans restaurant. It feels like you’re stepping back in time when you step inside. The French 75 bar is really fun and I love their cocktail napkins. You have to get a French 75 when you go. They’re so light and delicious! We wound up staying in the bar longer than expected because we had to wait an hour to be seated for dinner even though we had a reservation. We sat in the jazz room(it’s $4 extra per person but well worth it). The food was good except the pecan pie we ordered dessert was not good. The jazz band was fun. It was really busy and bustling that night.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
