About
The original Brennan's, opened in 1946, recently emerged from an extensive renovation that spared no effort or expense by owner Ralph Brennan. Eight glamorous dining rooms, each steeped in New Orleans architecture and ambiance, celebrate the opulence of dining in a city where breakfast revelry is taken as seriously as a decadent dinner. Brennan's menus are rooted in Creole traditions and are bolstered with contemporary New Orleans influences. Marrying classic and modern techniques yields a decidedly innovative approach and enhances our local, seasonal offerings. Brennan's old-world elegance, fanciful decor and pampering service create a unique and sophisticated backdrop for a most memorable meal. Welcome!

Several years ago we went to this restaurant on my wife's birthday shortly after they re-opened and were somewhat disappointed. Although not terrible the food was no where near the quality that the restaurant was in it's prime. Undeterred we came back a couple of years later and were surprised by not only the improvement in the quality of the food but in the increase in the varieties of the selections. Since then we have been back several times and found they are slowly getting back to the quality restaurant that for so many years they were known to be. Their breakfast options are continually being changed but the selections that we have chosen have always been better than average and sometimes excellent. I really love their Brandy Milk Punch that is made with double cream and a fresh cut vanilla bean. Also if you can get there while they are in season all of the dishes prepared with the Blue Crabs are beyond belief. My wife had an omelet made with crab meat that she feel in love with. I can safely say that we have decided to at least have one breakfast at Brennan's every time we re-visit New Orleans, as long as they continue to strive to reach the level that Brennan's was decades ago.

This restaurant is a New Orleans classic and I would recommend eating here at least once, especially for their brunch. I loved the feel of this restaurant - very old world, French. It's beautifully decorated and I loved looking out into their courtyard.
I ordered a seasonal sparkler champagne cocktail (they have a special on the weekends for brunch - $7 champagne cocktails) gumbo, the eggs sardou, and of course the bananas foster for dessert. My husband got the eggs owen which I think might have been the favorite dish of the meal. Everything was really delicious. The bananas foster is a fun experience because they cook it live at your table for you!
Definitely recommend!

This was a great place to eat and enjoy the ambiance!!! A great place to try some New Orleans cuisine and have the best and Original Banana Foster made right at your table. We celebrated my wife's birthday while we were here and they gave her a cooking apron with their name on it, a pile of fresh cotton candy with a cake underneath it. Just the desserts alone would have made this 5 stars.

Came here with my family for dinner based on a lot of recommendations. I had made reservations ahead of time and it was cool to see their billboard on the highway on the way to the French Quarter from the airport.
First off, the decor of this place is off the charts. The staff is dress impeccably. They have a grand piano in the main area. They have a house band that moves around and plays jazz in the different rooms. It was a bit too chilly to sit outside, but they put my family in the back dining room to the right of the court yard near the rear restrooms.
Service was very attentive and our waiter was awesome. Having two young kids, I partially picked this restaurant because they do have kids menus to appease our picky eaters, mainly my son.
Drinks were good, and in terms of food, I ordered the fish, which ended up being speckled trout, which I thought was a fresh water fish, but I was educated on the spot and learned that is a fish found in the gulf. I also got a salad, which was part of my meal deal, salad, entree, dessert.
My kids were happy with their meals.....you can't go wrong with fried shrimp, chicken tenders and fries.
I don't dispute that there are a ton of wonderful things on the menu and I probably made the wrong decision with the speckled trout. When the dish was brought to my table, it was a very small portion, which in this day and age of huge portions was ok with me, but this was too small. There wasn't much more on the plate than a small filet of fish, laying on a bed of something mashed. This fish had very little flavor outside of it being slightly fishy, which is always a bad sign. Upon further inspection, the skin on the underside of the fish filet was still on, and I was eating it, which was causing the fishiness. Once I took this off, the fish tasted ok, but very low on flavor. So frankly, that was a disappointment.
Since my kids were fading fast and looking very tired, we decided to get our dessert to go. The kids got a few scoops of ice cream and my meal came with a dessert, so I chose the pumpkin bread pudding, which sounded delicious.
The wait staff as i mentioned was great, but it took a while to get the dessert to go and close out our tab, but we got there eventually.
When we got back to the hotel room, there were no utensils in the bag. Thankfully we were able to get some from the hotel. The ice cream was good for the kids, but when I opened the container with the bread pudding, I took a few bites, and then noticed a very long piece of hair embedded in the pudding. Unfortunately this grossed me out and since I had taken it to go, there was no real way of proving to the restaurant, which was right around the corner, that the bread pudding was essentially contaminated. I'm certain this was not intentional, but it certainly put a damper on the experience.
I have no doubts that Brennans would have believed me and done something to make it right, but the moment had passed.
If I were to visit New Orleans again, I wouldn't hesitate to go back, but perhaps for breakfast or definitely try something different on the menu.

Walking past, we noticed that from 2-7 p.m. interesting champagne cocktails are featured. With our small breakfast wearing off, we had a seat and examined the bites menu.
What followed was one of the nicest dining experiences we have enjoyed in a long while. Max our server was the perfect combination of competence and courtesy, and really did an a amazing job, ably assisted by a younger intern. We each selected a cocktail, and chose to split two beef rib sliders and an olive almond dish. The sliders were delicious and generously portioned, and the olive dish was excellent as well. For dessert we shared a perfect Irish coffee and Brennan’s signature bananas foster, expertly prepared table-side by Max. The facility looked really attractive and the ambience was most pleasant ... a nice group enjoying themselves in subdued classic surroundings. We recommend avoiding the rush and giving this approach a try ... you will love it.

Brennan’s was a huge disappointment. My friend and I made reservations for a “special occasion dinner” and wasted a lot of money on poorly made food. For example, my turtle soup tasted good, but it was served lukewarm. My friends soup was also served lukewarm. As for entrees, my one tiny piece of duck leg was raw at the bone and the red beans were extremely undercooked. My friends scallops were also undercooked and the green beans were literally raw. The bananas foster was fun to watch being made, but a bit too boozy (Just like everything else we were served, I think it would have been better if it were cooked longer.) We told our waiter that although we weren’t looking for comps (we both ate about half of our entrees), we wanted him to know the food was terrible. He apologized, but did not send a manager over for feedback, so I assume nobody cares how bad their food is as long as you pay your tab.

One of my close friends and I, along with ten of our friends, travelled over five hours for a weekend vacation to celebrate our 21st birthdays. We heard all the hooplah about Brennan’s brunch so we made it a priority to go.
Our reservation was at 12:45 in the afternoon. Since we were a large party, they split it 6 per table but we were all in the same room. Right off the bat, it took 20-something minutes just for them to come order drinks. It then took them around 40 minutes for them to come back and order our food. After an hour of waiting for our food, we all assumed it was taking longer because we were a larger party. We asked our waitress and she said it will be coming out any minute. But another 30 minutes passed with no food, and we started becoming upset.
The waitress overheard us complaining and (finally!) decided to bring us bread. At this point, we were ravenous and 1 loaf of bread split between 6 people was gone in a second. At 3:40pm, they finally brought our food out. A couple of us ordered soup so we asked the waitress if she could bring some more bread; lo and behold, she never brought it. Most of our plates were obviously cold. They tasted as if they had been sitting outside for a while. Once we finished our meals in 5 minutes because everyone was starving, we paid And and ran out.
It’s funny, it took over 2 hours for them to bring our food but bringing us our checks took 2 minutes. Anyway.
I’m not sure if these people didn’t take us seriously because we were young adults, but it was absolutely ridiculous. Some of us drove 6 hours and some flew to come to NOLA for the weekend just for us to spend 3 hours sitting in Brennan’s while we wanted the time to do other things. The food would’ve been 10000x better if it were hot. The restaurant was not busy and there was no excuse. The atmosphere is stunning but the service is so slow, like so so so slow, with no reason, no explanation.

We went to Brennan's for breakfast to celebrate my friend's birthday. The service was wonderful..attentive but not intrusive and everyone was friendly. Everything from the food to the decor to the recognition of a special occasion made Brennan's one of our favorite spots in New Orleans.
My Bloody Mary was rich and spicy topped with pickled vegetables. I had the Eggs St. Charles Royale and it was delightful. Crispy trout, creamed spinach, poached eggs and a sauce...just go over there and get your own. And YUP, we sure did have table-side Bananas Foster at 10:00 in the morning. I wish I had more time, money, and a bigger stomach to try more items off of the menu.
Brennan's strikes the right note between formal fine dining and fun (not easy to do). Thank you, Brennan's for making a birthday meal something to remember.

We were in NOLA for 5 days and booked this restaurant for our anniversary because of the great reviews. The service was definitely outstanding. But the food was awful, I wish we had taken pictures. We started with two appetizers. The Shrimp Quenells for $19, was only one shrimp laid upon a tasteless dumpling. The pasta in the Tortellini en Brodo was so undercooked that we did mention this to the staff. They brought us some Turtle Soup as a replacement and this was actually good. They did not, however, take the tortellini off the bill. We shared an entree, the Blackened Redfish. In our experience, blackened food is always quite spicy and we were looking forward to that. It had no spice or flavour at all...the fish underneath the very black top was cooked nicely, but the black top had absolutely no flavour. And it came with two bites of crab meat and 3 small pieces of zucchini for $34. We also shared their "famous" tableside Bananas Foster. Our server did a good job on the presentation, but it was definitely lacking in flavour...it needed more rum.

Pleasant dining with some exceptional food (Turtle Soup and Seafood Gumbo was the best we found) especially with the fresh local seafood available. While I loved my smoked scallops, my partner was less happy with steak, but the manager was attentive and offered dessert on his dime. Home of the Banana Foster-don't miss!

This place was the highlight of our trip! We found a last minute brunch opening and were seated as soon as we checked in. Our server, John, was superb and went above and beyond. We were even checked on by more than one manager and felt very valued as guests. There was a jazz trio that went from room to room playing music. The atmosphere was just lovely.
And then there was the food. Nowhere have I had such wonderful food. It was mother's day so they had a special menu, 3 courses for $65. I had the fried oyster salad, and it was delicious! They were the best fried oysters I'd ever eaten. I also had the strawberries and cream which was light and delicate and flavorful. My husband had the artichoke and chevre ravioli and they practically melted in your mouth. We split a bowl of the turtle soup just to say we tried it, and it was the only thing we had that we didn't care for. For our entrees, I had the Brennan's original eggs hussard which I absolutely loved! My husband had the chicory dusted tenderloin which was so tender and flavorful, and the carrots that came with it were the best I'd tasted. We were so stuffed we didn't even have room for dessert, so we have even more reason to come back and try their bananas foster! (The table next to us got it and it looked amazing!!)
We will definitely be back here in the future! I've never felt more welcomed as a diner and send high praises for the entire staff!

We looked forward to our first visit to Brennan’s. It was a total disappointment from the hostess who had to ask about a service dog to the food that seemed to be leftovers heated in a microwave. Server was the highlight. We are frequent Nawlins visitors but this will be our last to Brennans

We were in New Orleans with another couple. We had eaten in Brennan's about 40 years ago and the other couple had heard about brunch there and we were not disappointed. We were seated efficiently even though we did not have reservations. The ladies in our group had a milk punch and my wife was impressed as much as she was years ago. The wait staff was impressive. One of our group is lactose intolerant and the sever was very good going back and forth with the kitchen checking on what was included in what dishes. The food was outstanding. We will definitely go back before another 40 years!

We stumbled upon this place after trying to decide where to have dinner. We ordered the tortellini appetizer which was undercooked and tasteless, not to mention that there were four time pieces of pasta. We should have complained but didn't. Our entrees were very good, my man got the duck and I chose the blackened red fish. Dessert was snickers cake which was delicious. Waitstaff was terrific. Here is where this place fails: extremely small portions, very expensive for food that is not mind blowing, and way too much fluff. One last thing, your snooty customers think that just because they are wearing a sport jacket that they are above you. I'll stick with the restaurants that have excellent food and a warm, friendly environment.

Upscale restaurant and birthplace of the bananas foster dessert. Came here strictly for dessert after dinner, because I’ve seen multiple recommendations to get the bananas foster here. We got seated without a reservation around 8pm. The service was really friendly and the server who made our bananas foster knew his audience. He made sure to countdown so we could capture the giant flame he made for the bananas foster for the ‘gram. He also gave us the background while cooking, so it was like dinner and a show! It’s $10/person for the bananas foster, 2 orders minimum. The ingredients are simple, but the execution is so well-done. We enjoyed the dessert a lot more than we thought we would. They have aperitifs as well, and the Irish coffee was nicely sweet with a kick. They gave us little mini sour candies at the end of the meal, which were also really chewy and yummy. Their dress code doesn’t allow for shorts or sleeveless T-shirts. Most of the people were dressed nicely. Overall, it’s an experience and a fun thing to do when you’re visiting New Orleans.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
