Atmosphere is charming; like being in an old comfortable home of a southern hostess. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and ushered into a parlor until table was ready, our drink order was taken - my colleague tried the "new fashioned" and I tried the signature gimlet: 10 minutes later we were seated and 30 minutes after that our drinks... We took our 12 year old gourmet and 16 year old vegetarian for dinner here. We have eaten at some of the best-regarded restaurants in New Orleans on our week long trip and this was hands down or favorite. We ate outside on a lovely evening which added to the experience. Service was great and the food was delicious.

Wonderful setting just off Bourbon Street with beautiful outside seating. Inside was cosy and the atmosphere noisy/loud. Started with wonderful sweet potato brioche and maple butter (really nice). The Goat Cheese Crouton with Mushrooms in Madeira Cream was wonderful and Veal Sweetbreads with Sherry-Mustard Butter were amazing. Main course of Grilled Duck Breast was slightly over powered by the Braised... More

i'm somewhat of a foodie and like high-end NYC restaurants, so that's my POV. this place was really great! we were seated after maybe a 5min wait (had reservations on a Saturday at 8pm) and the service was very high-end and great. so i'm not sure what these other reviews can mean with their negative experiences, but it wasn't mine.... Went to Bayona tonight. Had reservation for 8:30. Sat at 8:55. Ordered at 9:10. Served apps at 9:20. So far so good. Noticed that entrees were not coming at 9:45, complained to waiter, who told me that we were next order up. Complained to manager at 9:55 that entrees were still not on the table. Finally, entrees arrived at 10:00.... More

There is probably not much I could say that has not been written already, but I highly recommend Bayona. You MUST get the duck pb&j. It sounds weird, but it is delicious. Trust, me....you will thank me. The garlic soup was very good as well. The courtyard is a beautiful setting to eat outside. I'm sure it is wonderful for... More

Not that I would know, I never ate sweetbreads before! But I had the Taramasalata, Pita Crisps, and Greek Salad followed by Veal Sweetbreads in Sherry-Mustard Butter. I am not an organ meats eater, normally, and so was a little nervous, but this is the menu item Chef Susan Spicer began Bayona with. It was so very good, very mild... More

3/20/17. I will remember this date as the day I received the worst service at a restaurant in 58 years of life. The food was phenomenal. Not the best in New Orleans, but still great. The restaurant was over half empty and it took almost three hours to complete our meal and get out. There were three wait and backup... More

We arrived late in New Orleans and this gracious French Quarter restaurant welcomed us warmly. Top chef Susan Spicer does very good food and we also enjoyed the casual ambience.

We loved our meal at Bayona. The atmosphere was warm and elegant and the meal was out of this world. I had the rabbit and my partner enjoyed the lamb. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant. First class all the way!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
