The concierge of our hotel booked this for us as it was Valentine's Day and everywhere was busy! It was lovely, men were in suits and ladies dressed up. The service was excellent and so was the food and drink. Food melted in your mouth. It wasn't cheap but was excellent value for money. A lovely evening.

Gallatoire's was more reasonably priced than I was led to believe. They have several wines by the glass in the $8-12 range. Our entrees were $23 and $26. My husband thought his sautéed drum almandine was exceptional. I went with our waiters recommendation of Shrimp au Vin. It was wonderful. Really good coffee. We made reservations and had the perfect... More

This is a great old style New Orleans restaurant where men still need to wear jackets after 5:00. Lots of class but fun also. Food was excellent as was the staff. Would definitely go back.

I invited 9 of my friends to enjoy a meal at this awesome restaurant. I have been dining here for more than 30 years. One outstanding Creole meal after another. On this occasion not so much. We arrived at 4pm and we were seated in the grand downstairs dining room. Adam and another tuxedoed gentleman were there to provide service.... More

It was our last night in NOLA, we had had great seafood every night. Now we wanted "meat", so after we disembarked from the Natchez, we walked up to Bourbon St. and found Galatoire's 33 Steak House. What a great find, we split a 30oz T-bone, we both thought it was the best steak we've ever had. Our waitress, Nikki... More

The atmosphere is old New Orleans, food was fabulous and service was even better. My friends had the steak and it was delicious. I had the trout and it was heaven. They also had a puff potato appetizer that literally burst a pocket of air into your mouth and was as light as air. Pricey but definitely worth the cost.

In New Orleans with 7 friends celebrating a BIG birthday. Made noontime Saturday reservations because we did not want to overdress (dressed business casual). We were promptly seated. Service was impeccable. I ordered oysters Rockefeller, cup of gumbo, redfish with shrimp etouffee (sp?). Soooo good. We shared desserts. Everyone agreed that could not have been better. Yes the tables are... More

This restaurant has some seriously amazing food. The lighting is bright, but it's a very old building, so that's part of its ambiance. You can make a reservation for upstairs, or show up and wait in line for the downstairs area. My husband and I went at 8 on a friday night, and were able to be seated immediately. The... More

Dined at Galatoires this week. The room and atmosphere is so classic New Orleans and ties you back in time. I think it is a must dining experience when in New Orleans. The waiters and service was very good as was the food. Delicious shrimp remoulade, fish, stuffed eggplant and bouillabaisse. What a wonderful experience that I plan to enjoy... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
