We were in town for a conference as were friends from Mumbai. It was their first trip and having a bad time with our US food. We found this place and they were saved! Vega and Non-vet dishes done correctly. You don't have to be Indian to like it. If you don't have a high tolerance for spice, let them... More

The food here was very good but I was disappointed with the customer service. The wait staff was comprised of all men. They were not very personable to the guests saying minimal. We felt invisible as they bustled by us one at a time to take care of other patrons. After waiting close to 15 minutes, I asked if someone... More

An Indian restaurant with only chicken! No lamb, no goat nothing that I'd go back for. The buffet, for what it is, is overpriced and unimaginative.

My first visit to Nirvana was disappointing, to say the least. I waited 10 minutes to get anyone to seat me. Then another 20 before anyone took my order. Another 30 for my food. I ordered boti masala which was very good but, when I asked for an order of naan, which I had forgotten to ask for before, the... More

I'm hoping it was a one off the night I visited on a recent business trip but this was one of the strangest restaurant experiences i think i've had. The waiters simply got everything wrong. From the number of starters they brought out (4 dishes for a party of 2 people), bringing more drinks than we asked for, a staggeringly... More

Passable food. Service is unprofessional. Nice idea with the Indian flag colours but definitely an overkill with having 3 curries on the same platter.

Above Average Food. Attentive Service for a buffet. Chicken was excellent. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere. Good decor. Pleasant music and TV's on mute. Very reasonable price. I've been to a lot of Indian Buffets. I would rate this one as above average.

we arrived to find a buffet set-up for lunch. the food was plentiful and varied. though most dishes tried were good, nothing was memorable. pricing for a buffet set-up was very fair. maybe that is why quite a few college kids from the area were taking advantage of this opportunity.

Good Interiors. Great Service and Wow Indian food. Lucky to have authentic India breads in New Orleans.

Established in 1982

Welcome to the Nirvana Indian Cuisine. Please take a few minutes to look around. The paintings and sculptures you are seeing are windows to India's ancient spiritual world. After visiting the curry houses of Europe, especially of London, my late father (Har G. Keswani) was inspired to bring Indian culture and food to New Orleans. Since 1982, the Keswani family has presented the unique cuisine of India to the New Orleans community.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
