This gorgeously historic restaurant has been an institution in the French Quarter since 1840 and the staff continue the classic traditions of service. While the restaurant insists on a dress standard (collared shirts, no shorts, jackets preferred), the service staff are not the slightest bit...More

This historic restaurant founded in 1840 is still a place not to be missed in New Orleans. The food is exceptional, delivered by top notch, friendly service. A tour of the beautiful historic dining rooms was a real trip back in history.

On our recent visit, we saw no sign of a dress code. People were in whatever they in off the street in. Sandals, shorts, t-shirts, jeans. Not the jacket only code of yesteryear.

It is too bad they don't take note of the feed back. I'm going back to NOLA in October and won't go there again.

I know there are balconies as my friend stood on it during their tour. However, I am not sure about outdoor dining on the balcony.
