Great breakfast joint in a good location. Easy to park, and has outdoor seating so good when it's warm out. Food was delicious.

The good... It's a small neighborhood spot that knows its way around a breakfast menu. The food is consistently excellent. There are no annoying tourists. Parking is a breeze. You can eat and read the "Crimes Picayune" without feeling rushed. Best biscuits, except your grandmothers. Best grits, better than your grandmother's. The bad... I have to travel 3,000 miles to... If you're looking for a perfectly competent breakfast from food to service in a lovely setting, this is a great stop. The food is well executed to order and tasty with good variety on the menu. The service is friendly and efficient. The restaurant is clean and homey, tucked into a neighborhood of artsy older homes. Just as breakfast should... More

While visiting Tulane and staying in an apartment in the neighborhood, I walked a few blocks to Riccobono for breakfast. Had an excellent omelet. Highly recommend.

The food at Panola is consistently amazing, but I recently had a horrible experience there in regards to their seating practices. I am a white person and I went there by myself to get a quick brunch during a very busy time. I was in line waiting to be seated behind an African-American couple. After waiting for about fifteen minutes,... More

This is my favorite breakfast spot in the area. The food is always hot & fresh. The staff is very attentive. The atmosphere is chill, with beautiful plants & local art. Just a very cozy place to be.

The waffles always great (try using son sour cream instead of butter)! They're best with blueberries on top Then there are the Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is superb. If you want a variant, substitute bacon and add avacado. When choosing a breakfast with a choice of toast, pick a biscuit have them butter it and toast it on the... More

During a recent trip to New Orleans, we had breakfast at Panola St. Cafe at the recommendation of a friend. This is a small, cozy place set in the middle of a neighborhood not far from Tulane. You must park on the street, but there was plenty of room on the two days we went for breakfast. The service was... More

Food was awesome. But after I visited the bathroom I decided to not come back. It was like a gas station bathroom. And you know what they say.. Dirty bathroom, dirty kitchen.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
