We enjoyed a late dinner at Dick & Jenny's during French Quarter Fest. The service was warm and attentive, which made a real difference to the experience. The char-grilled oysters were also a real highlight. We were less impressed by the house wine, but overall, really enjoyed the experience and would try this place again!

A very good dinner for 8 well travelled friends all of whom have a wide range of dining tastes. The variery of appetizers were well prepared and the NOLA charbroiled oysters had their own special twist. A house standard, fried green tomatoes, were perfect. The light broth of the bouillabaisse made it an excellent choice.service was outstanding

So a day in the Garden District, riding the St. Charles Trolley, eating, playing, relaxing and eating... not a bad day.. And the dinner at Dick and Jenny's was once again excellent(chicken and sausage gumbo, shrimp and corn bisque, blackened drum with crawfish risotto and shaved asparagus, shrimp and grits, and finally (thank goodness) White Chocolate and Blueberry Bread Pudding... Five of us dinned here and had a very positive take on the food. We started with the Corn Fried Oysters and the Char grilled Oysters. Both delicious. We also were able to get the Boudin Balls which are usually just served at happy hour but the owner agreed to do them for a few more dollars than the special.... More

Made reservations. Arrived on time. It was a Sunday. Our niece recommended. Only one dining room used (of 3). Food excellent....service good for everyone but us. After being there and hour, had fast cocktails, one appetizer came. It took another 20 min more to get our food. They offered free cup of gumbo....everything delicious. We were the only table we... I was disappointed in the quality of the food . We ordered eggplant Rollatini, small slices of eggplant with a little ricotta in a tomato/vodka sauce as an appetizer to share. The flavors were plain and uninteresting. We both had Black Drum with crawfish risotto and shaved asparagus. The crawfish risotto tasted creamy and good but the piece of fish... More

We made a reservation here expecting the place to be a madhouse, with Mardi Gras and all going on. Instead, we showed up and were pleasantly surprised with a quiet dining experience instead. That said, better safe than sorry, so make reservations anyway. The location is fine, though be careful about wandering too far as you'll quickly find yourself by... More

This is my fourth or fifth visit to Dick and Jennys. Each time I bring back a different set of friends or business associates, and the restaurant always delivers. It is worth the $10 taxi ride from the French quarter. The restaurant is more of a family style bar and restaurant and it's not fancy. The seating and tables are... More

I've lived in New Orleans for almost 2 years now and make it a point to try to eat my way through the city as I may not be here for much longer. I have eaten at all the top tripadvisor restaurants and pretty much leave feeling ok or semi-satisfied....but nothing to ever rave about or go out of my... More

our party of four adults enjoyed an array of tasty flavors for dinner. the shrimp and grits were very good, on par with any top-notch version i have had. ahi tuna was prepared just right. and a smoked duck entre was superb. the service was friendly, but needs to be polished up a bit to hit that top tier professional... Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
