Super busy location, lines outside if you're unlucky, lines inside all the time. Cat fish and shrimp PoBoys all the way! their soup is awesome too. bread is a little hard, but thats part of the deal with these sandwiches. service is average, they dont really care if you like the service or not, there are way more customers waiting... We were attempting breakfast at a different (admittedly more touristy) location but the line was ridiculous. As we turned to leave a woman walking by asked if we were looking to have breakfast and told us to try Johnny's. She claimed it wasn't much to look at and rightfully so, we'd probably walked by it 5 times without even thinking... More

The bread was very chewy and the fried shrimp was hard - was sitting out for a while. Overall not impressed- was supposed to be the best poboy in NO- would try all other places before this. very disappointed. Took them to go or would have returned them.

This is a self proclaimed institution noting that they have been in business for over fifty years. The place is totally unassuming with a really large menu of Po Boys. You order at the counter and then they call you up by number when the food is ready. The blackened chicken po boy was over seasoned so you could not... More

Despite the crowds (I went during Mardi Gras weekend) everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and nice. Food was so good. I will definitely go back!

We use to go to Johnny's quite often. So while we were staying in the city between Christmas and New Years we decided to meet a friend at Johnny's. My wife and friend both got the roast beef po-boy while I got the oyster po-boy! Waiting for service is the norm but when our orders came up we got the... More

What a disappointment . The shrimp Po-Boy was over cooked and lacking in the amount of shrimp anticipated...bread was not great either. For my money...I would go to The Alibi on Iberville every time.

Just a quick stop for a Po Boy and beer ... laid back casual lunch. The restaurant is small- but the service is quick and the food is terrific! Classic po boys , muffalettas and more! Perhaps go just after the lunch crowd as it does seem to thin out. Seemed popular with locals and tourists so that is a... More

We stopped here for lunch and had great sandwiches! As others have said, it is crowded, hot, and nothing at all fancy (we ate in the back room, next to the cooler, with 4 others families at our table) but the food is good! Fried shrimp Pp boy was wonderful!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
