My wife and I had oysters on the half shell, boiled crawfish, and shrimp and grits...all excellent. We will definitely come back again. The Andygator craft beer was also great.

Went to this restaurant as in the area and had also seen an on-line review recommending the gumbo served there as one of best in NO. Was our first day in NO and had not had gumbo before, but so disappointed in bowl that I was served. Supposed to be Chicken & sausage gumbo, but did not have any sausage,... More

Grand Isle is a hidden gem in New Orleans, a city known for its extensive, tasty, traditional cuisine. The menu is the traditional of cajun delicacies. Nothing says,"special" like a perfect Martini, and mix drinks to open your appetite. The smoked fried oysters were impecable in its execution. The combination of smoke and garlic produced a symphony of sensations. The... More

We found this gem of a restaurant while staying at Harrah's for a long w/e. We called ahead and got a reservation. Had a lemon drop at the bar that was terrific. Dinner was so good we came back the following night. The fish stew, BBQ Shrimp, Oysters, and Shrimp and Grits were out of this world good! We met... More

With so many restaurants to choose from the Grand Isle stands out above its peers. Not cheap, but a sensory delight awaits. Everything fresh and fantastic; including desserts that felt very home-made Great service, perfect food

Great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. The oysters were spectacular. We had them backed with havarti cheese and jalapeño pepper...awesome! This place was so delicious and so much fun we came three times while staying during our week in NOLA. The swordfish was also cooked to perfection. Location is very good, close to Harrahs and the... After traveling all day the concierge at Lowe's said it was a short walk. We were early 6:00, and did not have to wait for a table. Our waiter was great, he was funny and helpful. Baked oysters very good (a little heat, but not to much). Shrimp and grits a very good comfort food. Drinks were also good. The... More

Found this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. Liked it so much went back a 2nd night. The smoked fried oysters are a must-have. Fisherman's stew was delicious and full of seafood and veggies. Had the whole fried fish - definitely a shared dish as it's two much for one person but absolutely delicious and filling.

The Grand Isle Restaurant has wonderful, authentic Louisiana food and a friendly waitstaff! The restaurant is not far from either the Convention Center or many of the hotels which are nearby. The restaurant's oyster bar is magnificent! You should also try the homemade gumbo and pecan pie for a taste of New Orleans!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
