This place is off the beaten path, that's for sure - but it's the real deal as far as BBQ is concerned. We had the brisket, the ribs and the pulled pork. All were tender and flavourful. For sides we had the baked beans: AMAZING! The mac and cheese was a disappointment - it was bland, dried out and cold.... More

This place is amazing. The smoked ribs, brisket and pork is to die for. We live in Australia and this is our third time back here because it is just amazing. Oh and the baked beans are beautiful, that's coming from someone who doesn't like backed beans normally. The smell when you get out of your car is amazing. The... More

My husband had the chicken and pulled pork, I had the pulled pork sandwich. Flavor was great. Mac and cheese was OK, baked beans were a little different and very good. This was off the beaten path, but well worth the quick drive. Just when you drive into a seedy neighborhood and think maybe you've put in the wrong gps... More

Can't really say much more than that can I? Eaten at most decent bbq joints in Sydney from mid to high range in price and a few around the states that were highly recommended. This place is just the best. So well priced including drinks. My favourite was the brisket but try everything. Service is awesome. It's also in a... More

We're from Canada and I celebrated my 40th birthday in NOLA and this was were I ate my birthday dinner!! Amazing little place !! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside the food is delish and the... More

New Orleans may not be known for it's barbecue, but this place bucks that notion. As relaxed and comfortable as a place called the joint could be. The vibe draws you in the food makes you glad you came. Best 'joint" in the Bywater...

Bbq in New Orleans almost seems counter intuitive but this out of the core restaurant knocks it out o the park. The ribs are great and the chicken is so juicy that it melts in your mouth.

We've been to many BBQ joints, and we found The Joint disappointing. We ordered a full rack, and it looked fantastic when it came out. But we found it too dry. Like it had been cooked too long ago to be " fresh". I understand it's slow cooked, but it was too dry. The selection of sides was also disappointing.

I had been wanting to try here for a while & decided to make it by this trip. As everyone stats the food is great. Ribs, pulled pork & mac/cheese a must. Didn't care for the baked beans. My teenager didn't care for their BBQ sauce (he likes the thicker kinds). The pecan pie was amazing! You stand in line... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
