This place was recommended to us by the owner of our Airbnb, and it was the best place we ate at on our trip. We ate brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and cole slaw, and it was all delicious. It wasn't expensive either, the atmosphere was...More

The named describes the ambience, and I mean that in a good way. Ribs, brisket both smoky and not too sweet. The sides are a cut above: The baked beans are smoky and well seasoned, the cole slaw and potato salad fresh, cold and with...More

It was our first stop when we got to New Orleans and it didn't disappoint! I do have to say my husband and I loved it more than my kids. The mac-n-cheese was yummy but had some sort of spicy spice in it so my...More

The BBQ was awesome! Had the mashed sweet potatoes (special side for the day) - fabulous! Nothing left to take home. Off the beaten path, so we had to call for a taxi and wait about 20 minutes, but well worth the trip.

Little place tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Fun, friendly and good food. Not what I expected for BBQ coming from the north. The sauces were very good but not typical sauces. I do wish I had a few other options to try for sauce...More

Visiting New Orleans for the first time, this place was high on the must-see list and it didn't disappoint. The beef brisket was tasty especially doused in the local BBQ sauce. Pork ribs fell off the bone. The sides complimented the meat, try the mac...More

My husband and I searched out The Joint based on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives... Normally we stick to Memphis when in search of BBQ, but since Guy recommended it, we made the trip to Bywater. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't seem...More

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining

No reservations, but I'll concur they're not ever needed. One thing that I will add is that the locals swarm to this place, so it gets more crowded over lunch or right at the end of the workday. You can avoid the... More

I don't think so! Sorry!
Since we don't rent a car when we come to N. Orleans. How do you get here? Anyone know if there is a bus stop near?

Definitely use Uber. There's a very active and pleasant Uber community in the area, we used it extensively while we were in town. The drivers were all great and had good recommendations on places to go locally, and I think... More
