Blue Cheese guacamole was fabulous! Our waitress was very good at explaining the different options and the best choices. Quiet, friendly atmosphere was perfect.

Maya's is a Latin style cantina which served some very unique and interesting food items. The chips with the sweet mango and jalapeno sauce was excellent (the dipping sauce my personal favorite), then we got the seafood guacamole which was seriously delicious with more chips (both flour tortilla AND large sized corn chips) that came with this appetizer! The seafood... More

Needed to start the detox on Mardi Gras night and we enjoyed this little restaurant on Magazine. My husband raved about the grilled fish with coconut jasmine rice. I had the avocado-mango salad. I did not love the chips - a little cardboardy - though the salsa was a pleasant surprise... a little syrupy, but tasty. We'll definitely go back.

The restaurant serves the most amazing food which is executed to perfection. Maya's has a great menu choice, to cater for everyone. We had a brilliant time at Maya's from start to finish. The restaurant is quite small so I recommend making a reservation during busy periods.

We kinda stumbled on this place A bit unsure what to expect. Being Mardi Gras fat tuesday, not a lot was open. We were warmly welcomed by a friendly man behind the bar and our waiter was excellent. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. They make some nice cocktails. Would recommend trying this place for dinner.

We went on a slow night with five adults, a four year old and a fifteeen year old. We were surprised they could accomodate us so well, may not have been so easy on a busier night. I split the paella with my son in law and we give it five starts. The rest had a variety of food, said... More

My wife and I were biking up Magazine St. Sunday afternoon and stopped at Mayas Restaurant because they had a table outside in the sun and we were hungry. What we experienced was totally beyond any expectations we may have had. Service was excellent; friendly, informative and attentive. Food was extraordinary; Tuna Tartar was fresh, bright, clean and tangy. Fried... More

We live close by this cozy neighborhood restaurant. We arrived at 630 and were seated promptly. The chips are great and tuna tartar was very tasty. I ordered the pork lechon which is usually excellent but they were out of it. I am a bit curious how they ran out of their most popular dish at the beginning of the... More

A wonderful dinner experience - great service, excellent food, and a friendly, welcoming ambience. Recommend the seafood guacamole and the crab, shrimp, avocado, and mango stack to start. Paella is super!

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
