Recommended highly from a local we stopped in for a drink. The drink menu is beyond impressive. Staff was helpful to questions. Didn't eat but food is an option! Wish the outdoor seating was available but wasn't until later in the afternoon.

A great selection of local and regional beers. Fun place in a little out of the way location (I walked from the Roosevelt on Canal). Great knowledgeable bartenders and fun lunch crowd. This would be my neighborhood bar to frequent if I live in the area. The Cerveza Fort Passion for Gose from Barcelona Spain was amazing.

Nice location, outside seating which was a plus. Beer wasn't very cold and it seemed a little dirty.

Good beer, great pub food, great outdoor seating! This place has a lot going on and it's a great place to start the night like we did. The neighborhood is great, you can walk to some other cool places and bars. I would just have to say that I do wish, for such a cool city with such great vibes,... More

What a treat! This unassuming bar has a great neighborhood view from the bar and deck on the second floor. The beer choices were extensive - from local beers to aged Belgian sour beers. All were priced well below what we experienced in the French Quarter. The quiet, neighborhood view including the streetcar passing by was part of the ambiance.... More

I was looking for a chill place I could escape from St. Patrick's Day nonsense. I saw that I could not only get a quality beer in a real glass, but that they serve a Cajun croque monsieur. The beer selection may be the best in New Orleans. The sandwich was solid by American standards. The cheese I fear would... More

Just a short trip out of the city by streetcar. I counted over 44 draft beer taps and got a small glass for just $2. You can't beat that.

The Avenue Pub prides itself on having many craft beers on tap and it does not disappoint! The food is very good and made right in front of you. The owner, Polly is very engaging with her staff and customers which makes it a very welcoming environment!

Diveish, not quite a dive. I liked the wonderful beer selection. My wife thought it was a dive and that the staff was not friendly. I thought the staff was fine. Come for a great beer selection. If it's a nice day, sit on the outside balcony upstairs. Also there are different menus for the upstairs and downstairs beer selections.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
