We ran into a server and her boyfriend who work at Thorns on our Kenai Fjords cruise, and they enthusiastically recommended it, of course! We actually already had it on our list so we could sample their Bucket of Butts. We were not disappointed! We...More

It's hard to write reviews on places when they mostly serve seafood, so your choices are slim. This was my second visit to this establishment because my husband raves about the butt. This time around I had two cups of chicken enchilada soup. I ordered...More

The decor is a throwback from the 1960s. Large collection of antique decanters. Many we have never seen before ( we are avid thift shoppers and antiquers ). Great beers on tap and large selection of liquor. Get a bucket of butts and brewskis and...More

We have eaten there twice this week. Both times the food has been delicious, it's value for money (in this part of the world) and the service friendly. Relaxed pub atmosphere.

The place is nice for beer but terrible food - we ordered onion rings and French fries, could not finish either ... We also ordered shrimp cocktail which was okay... Felt like one meal wasted .. Both me and my wife had terrible stomachache ......More

This is the home of the "bucket of butts". That's 30 pieces of halibut. Since Marie was having some other seafood dish I just got the conservative basket of butts. Good food, good beer and early Pink Floyd on the sound system. Life is good.

What a unique place! The water taxi driver suggested it as the place that the locals go to eat, rather than the more fancy places that cater to tourists. The others are right, the decor is straight out of the '60s/'70s. Super unique. The service...More

This place is definitely a hole in the wall type of place, just the way I like them. Small menu but everything is yummy. The bucket of butt (fried halibut pieces) is out of this world. The seafood chowder is pretty good too. Our waiter...More

The bucket of fried Halibut is melt in your mouth delicious. The potato salad is excellent and so is the chowder! Like most places in Alaska food is not cheap. Big collection of booze decanters on display thus the 'showcase.' Fast service.

If you are a lightweight, avoid ordering drinks because they pour them like a double or triple no matter the order. The Halibut was amazing and the chowder was maybe the best I had all trip. It's no wonder this place was so crowded with...More

I found a menu online on the zomato website(I can't post the URL here) but I have no idea how current it is. I can't remember the prices I and my group paid back in February but I think we paid a few dollars more for some... More

I'm not sure about the recipe for the butts. If you like lobster, I have a poor man's lobster recipe. 4 c. Water 1/4 c sugar 1/8 c salt Boil, drop 1 inch size chunks of halibut in water. Remove as soon as it floats, not long... More
