We were originally planning to go to the Red Onion Saloon. I'm glad we didn't. Skagway Brewing was outstanding. We had halibut fish and chips and the salmon salad. Both were great. Service was awesome. It's definitely worth the stop.

Hubby enjoyed a Flagship flight ($12) and really enjoyed them all. I appreciated their J Lohr chardonnay ($10/glass) After the flight, hubby ordered an 8 oz Hazy ($5.00) to enjoy with our onion rings ($12.99). Onion rings were outstanding! Server, Elliot, was friendly, and very...knowable about local craft beers. Highly recommend.More

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here while in town for a short stop during a cruise. The staff were all welcoming and accommodating, and the burgers were delicious! The spruce tip beer also was very good. If we are ever back in Skagway, we will...returnMore
This is great to hear! Thanks for stopping in and for leaving a great review!
The place would probably go broke if it were not for cruise ships. The service was poor and prices were exorbitant. Fish and chips with tax $30 and they are frozen fish and frozen chips. No coleslaw included. Beer is OK. Service charge if you...want to use a credit card. They have a captive audience and really don't worry about repeat customers.More
You are correct. Without cruise ship passengers, we would not be here, as it is 95% of our town's economy. This is why we try our best to provide each and every visitor with a top notch experience. I am sorry that you feel that...More
We stopped in for lunch, based on prior Yelp reviews. Thanks, you were right. The food here was really good. Since it was lunch, we didn't have any beer but I had a root beer. I'm a root beer lover and this one was quite...good. My husband had the halibut and chips and I had the salmon rillette, another name for salmon dip. It came with focaccia. My husband had two reasonably sized pieces of halibut, a whole bunch of french fries, and some homemade tartar sauce. His came right out of the fryer. He had to wait for it to cool off. My salmon rillette was good and the focaccia made it even better. Our server was super friendly, and we really enjoyed our experience.More

This is great to hear! Thank you for taking the time to leave an excellent review!
Great local draft beers and absolutely the best fish (haddock) and chips we’ve ever had. Our server India was such a delight to interact with. Got to go there!More
I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit! We do use local halibut in our Fish N' Chips, which makes for a very flakey, delicious meal. However, I think that thing that really sets ours apart from others is that we use our Spruce...More
We were seated at Scagway Brewing in the back room. We observed about four different staff members coming and going in the room, waiting on tables, and serving customers. We patiently waited, no problem. Once ten minutes had passed and not one employee had acknowledged...us, I flagged down a young man and said, " excuse me, could we please be waited on, we've been here a while?". this man retorted, "No you haven't, you've been here like two seconds!" and then proceeded to argue with me about how long we had been seated for. Rather than continue this argument, we got our coats and left.More
I am so sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the way that we normally treat customers. I will be bringing this up to our managers and staff immediately. Again, my apologies. I do hope that you give us another chance.
Great vat in Skagway. Stopped in after a long day walking around had a flight of local beers. The Spuce tip blond is very good. I had a rhubarb martini. It was amazing! Bar tender very friendly
Glad to hear that you enjoyed our beverages and staff! Thanks for the great review.
Skagway is a quaint little town and, walking around we were looking for a brewery to enjoy a beer. Upon arrival here, there was no one seated downstairs and the hostess said we could be seated upstairs – she also said we couldn’t just order...a beer but would have to order some food or we would be charged an additional fee. Ok…..so we ordered an appetizer to go with our beers. The beer was just ok, and while the view outside was nice we felt like this was a typical tourist trap being required to order food. I would give this place a pass.More
Michael, you wrote the same review on another site. I can't help but think that you reviewed the wrong place, as we have never, nor would we ever charge someone a fee for not ordering food. We love it when people come in for beers.
Skagway Brewing is the perfect place to escape cruise food and enjoy something local while in Alaska. We were seated outside where we could watch the people stroll by and enjoy the clean Alaskan air. The beer was good, the rhubarb shanty was delicious. I...had a salmon sandwich and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Hubby had fish and chips which he described as even better than what he had in London. Maybe it's the halibut. Service was perfectly attentive. It's a pity we don't live in the neighborhood!More
I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit! The secret to our amazing Halibut Fish n' Chips is that we use our Spruce Tip Blonde Ale in the batter. And, you can only get that at our pub, so I guess you'll have to...More
Skagway was our port during a rare monsoon. After walking to waterfall we landed here. It was warm and dry and we were received with open arms. The food was great. The beer was subpar. Their barleywine was easily the worst barleywine I’ve ever had....Friendly staff thoMore
I am glad that you were able to seek refuge from the storm with us! I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy our Barley Wine. We typically get great feedback on that specialty beer. Perhaps it was just off from a style that...More
I love beer and Alaskan Halibut...at Skagway Brewing both are spectacular. Skagway brews their own beers of which I sampled 6. I enjoyed them all Spruce Tip Blond, Prospector Pale Ale, Red Star Amber, Boom Town Brown (My Favorite) , Blue Top Porter and a...special Saison. Yes they make IPA's...but I like to try all others. With it we had Alaskan Halibut beer battered fish and chips. The batter was perfect, not to heavy. It complimented the Halibut perfectly. The service was spot on and friendly.I also liked it was off the main street, so you felt that you were away from the crowds. I cannt think of a better place to enjoy a beer and some great food while enjoying Skagway.More
Reading this review made me very happy. I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit with us. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review!
About eleven years ago we had the Halibut Fish and Chips at the Skagway Brew Pub (SBP). We never forgot and we planned our Skagway visit around a return for more. SBP didn't disappoint. From the friendly greeting to our wonderful server, India, we had...an amazing experience. The Halibut Fish and Chips we're as good as we remembered. The food came out fast and it was fresh. We are so glad we could share this experience with our family. Thanks SBP for making our visit so memorable.More
Thank you so much for visiting us again! It makes me very happy to hear that you had remembered our delicious Halibut Fish n' Chips so many years later. Till next time, thanks for the wonderful review!
After a morning walking around town, we decided to pop in for a early lunch. I had the most amazing fish fry ever, and my companion had the salmon spread. Both dishes were excellent - and the beer was quite good also! We were glad...we got in early - there was a line around the block when we left! They have a nice gift shop also with a nice selection of shirts and hats. But, seriously, go for the fish fry!More
