We met our son and fiancé here for a late dinner. The food is creative and the place has a fun young vibe to it. Service is helpful and the drinks are creative. Good and fun.

This was a first visit for me but my friend had been there many times and always raved about the food. We had the fig Gorgonzola toast for an appetizer. It was incredible. We both had thali for dinner, me Salmon and my friend the...More

Make that plural!! This is not your ordinary corner bar and grill. By all means, visit and amaze your taste buds with most unusual combinations of flavors and textures. My choice of plates was salmon with a light herb cream sauce; surrounded by finely shredded...More

I wish I could afford to go more often. If you're on a budget go for happy hour or you could go for dessert and coffee. They have some of the best french press decaf coffee in the city.

The focus here is on thalis (an Indian word for metal platter) where the idea is to offer different flavors of sweet, salt, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy all on one single plate. Poppy does a Northwestern cuisine version and they do it really well....More

Outstanding food and service in a stylish atmosphere. We really enjoyed the concept of the 'Thali' platter and appreciated the delicate flavours, a real treat to taste such exquisitely prepared food!

I was, frankly, nervous about Poppy. The menu seemed a bit out there, a bit too trendy for my usual tastes. But the food and the service won me over. Our server took the time to carefully explain the menu and how the thalis worked....More

They have a thali concept - imitating the traditional India way of eating with unleavened bread, few curries and dessert -but with a Northwest twist. Poppyseed naan is good but the rest leaves much to be desired. Service is poor and drinks over priced. Parking...More

Located on Broadway, this restaurant is central to many other food outlets and bars. As recommended on Trip Advisor, we booked a table in Poppy's and had a really excellent meal. I'd advise a starter each (Alaskan herring great) and a Thalis between 2. One...More

I visited with two friends on a Friday evening, and were wanting a formal dining experience. The atmosphere appears slightly more casual; however, the food does not disappoint! Dishes are slightly more expensive than you'll find elsewhere, but the food was fresh and appeasing to...More

In a warm, modern dining room overlooking the lively streetscape of North Capitol Hill, Poppy presents James Beard award winning Chef Jerry Traunfeld’s style of Northwest cooking. Inspired by the thali, a tray of many small dishes served all at once to each guest, Poppy's menu highlights the best of local seasonal ingredients, spices, and fresh herbs from its own back garden, and includes many options for vegetarians.
