There's a friendly staff in this bustling Caribbean soul restaurant. However, the times I've been here the dishes are "too" something... too salty, too sweet, too saucy, etc. I chalk this up to a lot of the food being held in steam trays in the back where it sits out and the tastes condense. On my latest visit, the Collard... More

The rich flavors of jerk chicken and goat curry were more than i could have ever wanted. I feel like every single item was better than the next, full of unique satisfying flavors. Perfect level for someone who loves spicy. My new favorite.

I had the chicken and waffles and it was excellent! My girlfriend said the grits were not the best she has ever had though. Under seasoned and a somewhat small portion. Otherwise it is an awesome place to eat in South Seattle. Worth going out of the way for if you like Island/Soul food. Right near the 7 bus line... More

I love this restaurant - it has a neighborhood vibe with amazing food. I will drive to Island Soul just for the collard greens alone. However - the selection of yumminess just gets better with everything I've tried. Today it was the gumbo with a side of the coconut cornmeal muffins. And jerk chicken for him. Couldn't resist and asked... More

First off, if you are staying downtown and don't have a car, take light rail south to Columbia City station. Walk about 4 blocks east to Rainier Ave, turn right and about mid block is Island Soul. So... no excuses. I've gotten to know the family that owns and runs Island Soul over the last few years and come as... More

If you are a yuppie, stay away...no one there likes you in any way. If you wanna place to eat and... More

This is a great place for Happy hour which is served until 6pm. The appetizers are priced at a discount price but you have to order one alcoholic beverage. I always opt for the full dinner because I need my sides. What I love ordering here is the fried catfish with collard greens, black eyes peas. I also recommend the... More

This place was close to the place we stayed. We chose it from their diverse menu. We got it to go and it was ready in about 15 minutes. The food was good and had some nice spice.

We hit the place for Happy Hour and we enjoyed a table full of fun tastes. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the chicken and waffles, because the chicken was double fried and found it too well done and over crispy. But, we had fun.
