When Al Boccalino was on Yesler, it was great. The choose your price and tell your dislikes was some of the best food I've had. It has since moved to 1st Ave. and might have a different name (I say might because both Al Boccalino and Luigi's are the names on the door and inside the restaurant. They still offer... More

Nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, helpful staff. The salad is average at best, but the pasta is perfectly al dente. We had the Basilico with chicken and the Pescatore pasta and also sampled the spaghetti and meatballs (made with raisins). All were superb. Some of the best pasta we've ever had ... in Italy, on the East Coast, in San Francisco,... More

Since we had had a wonderful meal at AL Boccalino's when it was on Yesler near Pioneer Best Western Hotel, we were looking forward to a similar experience. This was an odd experience. First an older man, maybe AL Boccalino?, sat at a large table in the middle of the room working on a computer the entire time we ere... More

The staff was very friendly and really wanted us to have a good time. They offered our kids pizza from their pizzeria across the street--the four of us could have easily dined on the two pizzas. The pasta we ordered was pretty underwhelming--just pasta, nothing more--no side greens or veg, no bread, nothing. It was fairly inexpensive ($12),but still--that's it,... More

We had a poor experience at their cooking class. I would not recommend attending. The food was scant and not high quality. For a $35 per person plus a mandatory 20% gratiuity - you should spending you time elsewhere.

Alert! - The directions to get to the restaurant were wrong. Nobody answered the phone to help us find the place. The cooking class was held in a dimlit back room and the cooking equipment didn't work to keep things cooking so the food got cold. There wasn't enough food for the 12 of us that attend so the 5... As we were walking into the restaurant, I passed a gentlemen walking out. I could hear him mumbling "I love Italians, but I don't think I'd ever eat here." Not the best intro for a first time visitor. Boy, did he miss out! This is not your typical dining experience. It's family style. There's no menu. The waiter asked us... More

We had eaten at Al Boccalino many years ago and loved the food. This time we returned with an Italian food tour group hosted by the owners of Al Boccalino and still enjoyed the food but the restaurant has seen better days and could use a little sprucing up. The owners were interesting and they do offer cooking classes, which... More

This restaurant is home to beautifully and deliciously made meals, fantastic service, a wonderful ambiance and so much more. They do a great Italian Table meal, where you give them the guidelines and the budget, and they crate a full meal for your table. They have a wine club for imported Italian wines and cooking classes, as well.
