Found out about the Maid Rite from the Springfield tourism guide and looked it up. I had HEARD about loose meat sandwiches, but had never had one. I was NOT disappointed! Perfectly seasoned, nice and hot, filling! A GREAT lunch!!! I had the special of...More

This wonderful place has been around since I went to Springfield High school - many years ago! Still just as good as I remember. Great food and service.

So of course this eatery is iconic in Springfield, SO good. The root beer is amazing and I love the chilled mugs it comes in. Sandwiches are to die for, greasy, but so good. Fries are decent.

We just happened to be driving by. We have been doing Route 66 for a few months now. We are going back to fairly local places and exploring more thoroughly. We have never had a maid rite sandwich before. It is a loose meat sandwich...More

When you walk in, you are greeted as a friend! The building has operated as a maid-rite restaurant since 1927 (ok, I may be wrong by a year or two). The lunch menu is limited to maid-rite sandwich (crumbled cooked seasoned hamburger), in one of...More

I agree with others on the maid-rites, you only get a pitiful amount of meat on it, and for the price tag I can grab a huge double cheeseburger elsewhere... I have tried the sandwich and the horseshoe, both of which are smaller than your...More
