My wife and I have travelled Turkey and the Mideast and were excited to find a coffee house that served "Turkish" coffee. When the coffees arrived at our table in traditional warming/serving ladles our expectations were elevated. Sadly it ended there. The coffee was only OK, though a little pricey. If you are looking for a great cup of Turkish... More

We arrived at 11:15; they close at midnight. The restaurant is two stories. I didn't look downstairs but upstairs is dark wood, mirrors and lots of eclectic art. The tables are hexagons that can be situated abutting or separated depending on your needs. It was ok for the four of us because we sat on a corner. There were a... More

Algiers is a cozy oasis, with fantastic atmosphere, food, and beverages. The falafel here is among the best I've had - not too dry and incredibly flavorful. You could sit here for hours among the Mediterranean decor and completely forget you're in the bustling Harvard square. I had the opportunity to go the last day before they closed their doors... I have been here many many times over the past 30 years. It is still one of my favorite paces to go to in Harvard Square. I frequented the original Algiers cafe in Cambridge and continued to go even after they remodeled and took away the dirt floor. The food teas and desserts are really good, the ambiance is very... After 45 minutes waiting for eggs, they eventually arrived cold. My husband had a cheese omelette which was literally a flat slice of cheese covered in egg. The rest of us had cold, overcooked poached eggs. We should have left but we were the only customers in the cafe and didn't think it could be so bad. Very disappointing.

Great option for breakfast and lunch. Inexpensive, great location, delicious food with a cultural hint that isn't in your face.

Stopped in for breakfast. Paid $4.50 for instant oatmeal that didn't include any fruit or nuts. Coffee was really bad. Iced coffee was twice as expensive and just as bad. I guess it was $2 for the ice cubes? Will not got back. The food explains why the restaurant was empty.

Stopped by this coffee shop for a bite to eat. Service was terrible. Water was room temperature, no ice. Hummus was a plate of a liquid type substance with a bite of a cucumber and two small tomatoes. I would move on and not stop here.

We went there for lunch. The service was too slow in fact there wasn't a service. We waited appx. 20 min. but no one came to take our orders then we left the place. I never think to go back again.

a small cafe off the beaten track, Algiers has nice coffee and snacks for a quiet afternoon chat with a friend. it's been here since the 1980's when I was an undergraduate at Harvard, and it hasn't changed. highly recommended if you want a flavor of what harvard is and was.
