We stopped by for lunch because we have a vegan in the bunch and the food is very good. I unfortunately cannot eat onions and there is a lot of it in the recipes so it was a little more challenging for me. The service was great! And the experience was even better! Very affordable and fresh. We all loved... More

This is my go to place when I'm in the VCU area. This tiny restaurant has great servers (kudos to David for last Thursday nite). They have a varied menu and a lot of vegetarian selections if you like to go veggie. Thursday I had the baked spaghetti which came with a great salad, and a couple pieces of garlic... More

We stopped here for a quick meal before seeing a play at the Altria theater. I had passed 821 many, many times and always wanted to stop, but never made the time. We were lucky enough to get the last table. Our waitress was kind and attentive. I had the grilled ham and cheese with fries and my friend had... More

Had a late breakfast here. Ate the blueberry pancakes and fruit bowl. There were five of us at the table and all ate something different, and all five were most impressed with the food. The coffee was also quite good. Our service was excellent. This place stays packed, so getting a seat is a roll of the dice. We saw... More

There are now probably more than 100 places to eat and meet, but my friends, who are alumnae from the English Literature MA Program, only think of congregating at 821. I always order their cheese steak sub, which is as good as anything not made in South Philly. Another friend orders the dinner size tuna salad, either grilled or blackened.... More

Comfort food, done very well. I had the fried artichoke hearts and the catfish bites. Both came fresh and piping hot with a sweet chili sauce on the side. I asked for and was promptly served a side of mayo for the artichoke hearts, as the spicy sauce didn't really compliment the flavor. They have burgers, salads, omelets, wraps, and... More

The menu selection is great and we loved that they serve breakfast @ 3:00 p.m. I had the breakfast burrito with rosemary potatoes and it was very tasty. My husband was loving the French toast with choc chips. The place is cozy. Didn't have to wait long. Service is great. Parking was easy as well which surprised us. The burgers... More

Great family spot! The kids had pancakes and ate every bite. I had French toast and also ate it up! Good vegan options - the tofu vegan breakfast burrito that my husband ordered was tasty. His potatoes were really good. Funky, comfortable, colorful atmosphere. Would definitely come back. Want to do lunch or dinner next time we're in town!

We stopped in here for breakfast and were not disappointed. The selection is great, the place is funky, and our waitress gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit in the area. I only wish we could have come back for lunch and dinner. They offer something for everyone, from the meat eater to the vegetarian. Even the coffee... More

We came to 821 after walking out of another local eatery where the service was very rude. At 821 we were promptly greeted with a smile, pleasantries and a menu. I had an omelet with fresh fruit. My companion had something with a small salad. The food was good, the fruit was fresh and flavorful as was the salad. All... More
