Having travelled the 2 hours from the coast on several occasions, it's always worth it. This time was Christmas lunch. Excellent food, good service and atmosphere. American chef with flair. Views over a stunning turquoise lake.

We arrived here only to find it really crowded but were able to get a table outside. It started to rain so the staff was nice enough to move us indoors. We loved the tempranillo that was served as house wine. Made the view over the lake even better. We tried the cheese tray, veggie pizza and the artichoke, shrimp... More

Has a lovely position overlooking the lake and though you can't appreciate this on a Winter's night, the intimate atmosphere makes up for it. Both staff and the owner, Mona are very friendly and welcoming I have to say that the food was OK but not extraordinary so this aspect was slightly disappointing considering previous reviews. Vegetarian 'paella' had by... More

Stopped for the adorable Christmas market held outside. Went with a group of 6 (one child 5yo) the atmosphere was warm, the waiters were kind a day the food was good. Word of caution don't go hungry I'd you're ordering a pizza (took 30 minutes, however the was delicious) the view is spectacular, a great day trip town and a... More

Two dinners at Al Lago—overlooking the surprising and beautiful reservoir/lake below Zahara de la Sierra—were excellent in every respect: delicious, inventive food, beautifully prepared; attentive service. Way beyond our expectations. At the outset of an On Foot walking trip through several Andalucian "white villages," we stayed at nearby Los Tadeos (Al Lago has rooms, too), but dined here. The first... More

Our booking was managed efficiently in english. There are only 6 rooms and they are wonderfully appointed. Everything was done to make our stay a pleasant and enjoyable one. A permit was obtained for us to access the Garganta Verde. Breakfast was fine. Packed lunch is also available for purchase - 9 euro. While adequate you could get better value... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time and meals and did just want to point out that a 2 course dinner with wine at 21.00 euros or 3 courses at 26.00 euros is not that expensive, for as you say, high class cuisine (including tax) Our picnics at 9.00 euros include... Al Lago is a lovely restaurant set in the lower part of Zahara de la Sierra. You can park right opposite with ease. We chose a table outside for a luchtime meal under the cover of some trees which afforded us a nice shady dining experience. The food was excellent and really beyond any meaningful critiscism and is certainly amongst... More

We stayed at the Al Lago hotel and ate dinner in their restaurant the first night, thinking we would try something else the 2nd night; the food was so great, we ended up coming back the second night. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared and presented. My wife enjoyed the fish dishes and I had the duck one day and... More

An English couple who had moved to Zahara referred us to this restaurant when we were discussing our desire for good vegetables and fish. We ended up eating there all 3 nights that we were in town, as the food was consistently good and the servers friendly and helpful. Fresh variety of fish, meat and veggies, very tasty sauces.

We stopped her for lunch, we arrived early and had no reservation but they fitted us in. I think you should make a reservation if you're thinking of going here. For starters we had a fried Avocado dish, a first for us, served with a salad and dressing which tasted delicious and very fresh, a lovely dish. I then had... More
