Ubrique doesn't have a huge choice of places for lunch, but El Laurel de Miguel is a winner. We chose four dishes from the tapas menu, including tataki de lomo (pork tenderloin, sliced very thinly), and excellent asparagus. They coped very well with our lack of Spanish (I would guess that they don't have English guests very often). Prices are... More

Arrived at the scheduled opening time of 8:00 PM Sunday - staff arrived later and the restaurant opened at 8:15. Food was good, but service was very inattentive - only one waitstaff at the restaurant. Outdoor seating consists of tables set up on the road (not the sidewalk, but the road, where you share space with cars driving by) -... More

A local shop keeper recommended this restaurant to us, and we were delighted. It is slightly off the beaten path through a passage way (El Pasaje). The waitress was delightful, friendly, very helpful. And the foold- excellent and original. The chef is creative and the presentation very appealing. We started with the black cheese appetizer and croquetas on a stick,... More

Ah! what a great time me and my wife had, to start we were warmly welcomed the staff spoke good English (as I'm embarrassed to say my Spanish is very poor) he recommended for us a lovely light salad, then a deep fried cheese dish and then a lovely meat and potato dish. We both feel that we have been... More

We ate the best tapas we had in two weeks in Andalucía here. Superb food and service with fantastic recommendations from Francisco, who not only speaks excellent English but works incredibly hard - gracias! The prices are very reasonable, and it's family friendly too. Ubrique isn't exactly on the main tourist route but if you're anywhere near the area -... More

If you ever get to the hole by car try El Laurel de Miguel. In this town they are used to follow trends, so mostly in Calle de San juan Bautista you will find your perfect spot after a long day walk in the Country. Friendly staff, drinks and tapas, good atmosphere and good setting.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the service equally as good. I hardly speak Spanish but the extremely friendly staff were just brilliant at recommending dishes and making us feel so welcome.

Since our last visit, this restaurant has added a side room which we believe is used for functions. This evening at 21.00 a children's party was still going with a noise level of the highest order. The tapas ordered and delivered was very good and good value. However, I do not like screaming children running round with voices at full... More

Most of the tapas that you would expect in Sierra de Cadiz are on the menu. The nice part is so are a lot that you would not normally find.in this part of the world and I think the influence must come from El Laurel just across the road. We ordered 5 tapas for lunch. Wrong! Too much delicious food.... More

Better to clarify upfront the size of the tapas because it might be more than usual, and you will not be able to leave anything in your plate because this is seriously the best spanish food ever. Smiling and kind staff. Nice noisy outside tables, respecting the spanish tradition.
