First, the spatzle here was out of this world. The flavor was so rich and delectable. I pretty much ignored the rest of my meal to devour that unforgettable spatzle. Moving on. We ate here for dinner. Though we made a reservation, we didn't need...More

Finally went went with friends to Der Biergarten. Restaurant is fun and very authentic in appearance. However, service and food were not the best. Beer offerings were authentic. Staff seemed rushed and without full knowledge of offerings.

Great restaurant with delicious food. Our server Jason was so helpful with recommending food items and drinks to try and they were all great choices. The outside area is cute and we loved the train inside.

We came here to enjoy the weather, have a drink, watch the end of the game and catch up with a friend. Our waiter, while I'm sure he meant well, kept interrupting us to see if we needed anything, even with mugs half-full and after...More

Had lunch here during a convention. Need to get there early or after the lunch rush. Food is as close as you can get to real German food. Service is awesome and friendly!

Casual evening dinner and beer. Out of town guests. We served in Germany together many years ago. Time to reminisce.

Ate at the bar so no waiting. Great beer selection, including several German beers. Food was good. Jaegerschnitzel did not have very many mushrooms and not a lot of gravy. It was good but not spectacular. Apple streusel was very good. Overall a nice relaxing...More

Atmosphere gets 5 star, but value is a 3. There is NO German food on the kids menu. Portions are definitely on the skimpy side, especially for $20+ a plate.

Why do you not serve German home fries. French fries are not authentic. I have wanted to eat here but that one little thing has kept me from going. I live in Columbus, Ga. and we use to have a couple of excellent Getman restaurants but they closed (owners retired). I'm missing some good German food.

I can't answer for the restaurant about their food choice decisions. However, we have always enjoyed our meals here and have been full enough that we don't need fries....German or otherwise. I don't think you would be... More

Description
Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.
