When we arrived in town, had no specific destination in mind when we stumbled upon Cafe' Anglais - What a delightful surprise. Food was delicious, proprietor was warm and friendly. The best surprise was the gardens in the rear of the building. The day was sunny and warm so we elected to sit out side. We so enjoyed just relaxing... More

Delightful backyard garden, delicious quiche, a new dessert tried and the best coffee I ever had. Don't let the plain store front dissuade you from lunch in the garden.

Went with my family for tea a number of times. Found the tea and food to be great. However, after one experience with the owner making a rude comment to my son, I haven't been back and will not return. Great food, but I can do without a rude owner.

To establish my credibility; I'm English. A nice pot of tea served in the best China (the way Grandma always did it). Steak and kidney pie, Cornish pastie, crinkle cut chips and mushy peas were all very good and authentic. This is not meant to be a fine dining experience but is an extremely good attempt at an English cafe.... More

Cafe Angalis was my first team room, and like the owner, Michael told me, I think I've only set myself up for disappointment in future visits to any other tea room. Four friends and I put in a reservation for a Sunday tea time (you have to call ahead at least one day so they can prepare). We arrived to... More

I am a tea aficionado, so am always looking for new places to try. This one transported me back to England, and the local tea rooms I visited in the small villages along the way. No frills, just a good cuppa and some sustaining "tea" tidbits. including scones, clotted cream, and strawberry jam, and the ever present lemon tart! If... More

I always like to try some unusual eateries when on vacations or even day trips and I was punished for it this time. My mom and I came to historic Frederick to see a museum and do some antiquing and I wanted to see what this place is about. It was a hot July day and their door was open... More

I recently spent the afternoon in the garden for a graduation luncheon. It is a lovely spot created by the owners wife. The garden is larger than the café. It is quiet and the perfect spot to have a chat, pot of tea or a cold drink. The food is typical English food. Michael, the owner, aims to please and... More

Garden seating is best at this little spot, plenty of greenery, fountains and a resident dog! I had coffee (yikes!) and my sister had tea. A lovely setting, the menu looked good but we desired something heavier, would definitely return for brunch!

If you are looking for a place with English nostalgia then you have found it at Cafe Anglais. The menu is limited to middle of the road Brit tea room fare. There are a couple of English pub standards like Shepherd’s Pie and the ever present Fish and Chips. Have mercy on your digestive track and avoid at all costs... More

A delightful English tea house in Historic Frederick. Excellent pastry, scones and perfectly brewed tea in English bone china.
