Recently I was part of a group having lunch at the Grand Cafe which (inexplicably) has been a landmark restaurant in town. The service was distracted and sloppy. The food- distinctly mediocre. It was as if this was their opening night - no one seemed...to know what they were supposed to do (yep, the salads sitting on the tray that you have been oblivious to for the last 15 minutes actually should be placed in front of the patron SO THEY CAN EAT IT). My point is that this place has been a fixture for years and it’s hard to reconcile the number of ridiculous newbie moves. My advice? Train your peeps. The food....well....obviously this place has an audience. I for one, find it depressingly uninspired and old school in a grim way. To each ones own.More

We've been for dinner many times. Often stop in just for a glass of wine at the bar, though. Good people. Professional and treat everyone like gold.

We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meals. This was a triple birthday celebration. We had a variety of meals from fish, to steak and chicken. We also enjoyed the desserts. Will return again soon for another festive meal.

The positives: The service was very attentive for our party of 8, seated at a round table in the main dining area. It's very beautifully decorated, in an old school way. The wine list is a very good one, and the drinks were well made....The negatives: The waiter detailed many specials, but without indicating their cost. This puts the diner in the position of having to ask. Some people are made uncomfortable by that situation, and so it should never be, no matter where one dines. The cost was too high for the quality of the food that was served. Let's just say the menu reads better than what landed on everyone's plate. The menu is hybrid mix of French, Asian, and new American, and it comes across as more of an upscale diner than a dining destination. It's louder than it should be for the ambience that one should expect, here, and the noise from the bar, which wasn't crowded at the time, enters the main dining room. It seems as though this place is living on its long-held reputation, and that is all. You're better off elsewhere, in Morristown, and can skip this place, unless you just like to waste money and your palate is easily tamed.More

A roach appeared behind my head while I was ordering. The waiter pretended to catch it, but he was unsuccessful. The service was terrible, the food was sub par, and at the end when we ordered desert, the waiter forget to bring it. One guest...ordered a cappuccino and they brought it in a wine glass. I would have preferred going to White Castle. Find another place and save your money.More

We decided to have lunch here and we were dissapointed. The service and ambience was fine but the food was not that good and very expensive. The lobster bisque was terrible and tasted old. The clams casino tasted like they were old and reheated. The...butter for the bread had an refrigerator burn flavor to it and was horrible. The french onion onion soup was average with horrible deep fried onion rings on top. The beat salid was very average. We really did not enjoy the food.More

Very charming, intimate restaurant in downtown Morristown, very elegant. We had reservations, but were seated at the bar for a short time while they got our table ready, cute little bar, and have an excellent cocktail menu. I had Morristown Jazz. Very nice drink. There...is a piano guy, who played nonstop for over 2 hours, gave a nice ambiance. Wait staff and hosts were all very friendly and attentive. We had the mushroom crepes and seafood crepes for appetizers, incredibly delicious. Entrees were the duck and the Bronzini, both cooked to perfection, just wonderful. They give you a plate of melt in your mouth cookies, and for my birthday presented a small plate of strawberries and whipped cream, with a candle. Had an absolutely lovely evening.More

We celebrated my wife's birthday last month. We sat outside at a nice table on a warm evening. The service was good, but the food was marginal at best. To start with, the bread basket consisted of a variety of choices most of which were...not fresh. Our appetizers were fine, but we should have stopped there. I ordered the duck which was served practically raw and had to be sent back. My wife had a chicken dish which may have contributed to her gastric discomfort the following day. We wasted the benefit of a nice French wine by finishing our meal. They did offer a birthday dessert and the staff sang "Happy Birthday " which prompted me to increase their rating to a 3. It was an expensive evening for a not so grand experienceMore

Service was as good as you’ll get anywhere. A large menu with many good appetizers, dinners, salads, and specials. They handled a large party easily. All of the food selections were good. Excellent bar drinks.
