We've eaten here many times before the "lockdown" and am pleased to see that Marjan is still surviving.
We've visited Persia (Iran) and have Iranian neighbors, so we appreciate good Persian food, and this is where it is.
Been to Marjan several times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, service is very attentive. We shared the Dolmeh and roasted eggplant appetizer; fantastic. The lamb kebabs are tender and cooked to perfection. Dessert was baklava; 2 orders so we could take...some home!More
We had a relaxed, long Sunday afternoon lunch at Marjan in Morristown. The food was really tasty and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the starters of humus, breads and a Persian crispy rice dish. Our mains were also excellent and my lamb kebab was delicious. Throughout...our visit the servers and staff were friendly and attentive. At one point the venue did get a little cold. We've been to Marjan before and will most certainly go back. The food is always delicious and interesting and the venue is quite intimate. It's so good to have such a fabulous restaurant close to home.More
Small intimate place. Food was very good service was excellent. Place is sparsely decorated but it is a storefront establishment. No parking other than street.
Would certainly recommend this to anyone interested in Turkish cuisine. Difficult for dinner especially when there is no definite parking....Prices are on the high side considering the type of restaurant.More
Great Persian fare! My daughter and I really enjoyed the food and very friendly attention from the owner(?). The dolmeh was excellent. The pomegranate ‘dressing’ made it a bit different than the greek or other mediterranean versions. Kabob-e-Kubideh and shirin polo were flavorful without overpowering....The Koresht-e-Fesenjoon (chicken) is a uniquely Persian fare if you want something different. Make sure you have the Persian ice cream and Faluodeh (lime and rose water sorbet) - good palate cleansers!More
The food was mediocre and I am being polite. Not worth going here. As foodies we enjoy many cuisines and have eaten Persian food elsewhere. That being said the Gourmet sabzi and the bread were good. The lamb shank was flavorless, the hummus just eh....The rice was also okay. Very disappointed after reading so many good reviews. Service was very attentive.More
Every detail of the dishes, down to the finest ingredients has clearly been considered and made from scratch. Marjan was far more than an exciting find on a business trip - it will become a staple during my stays in NJ. The food is made...with the best ingredients, clean, and simple (yet the flavors are out of this world delicious). My fiancée and I both started with an order of the homemade Dolmeh - grape leaves - (if you get homemade grape leaves - you know it). They were spot on perfect, as was the Kashk-e-Bademjan, a puree of eggplant sautéed with onions and finished w/ yogurt sauce and garlic - from there we knew we were in for a taste bud journey for dinner. For our main course we both also ordered the Grass Fed New Zealand lamb chops with the saffron rice. Hello!!! Tender bites of saffron infused lamb chops were mouthwatering. Each table had it's own shaker of Sumac (a Middle Eastern herb that has a tangy/zestiness and actually has medicinal benefits for diabetics - stabilizing the blood sugar). Sumac is expense - just like saffron: it these herbs were used generously. We were impressed! For dessert, we ordered the homemade Baklava and the Faloudeh. We wish that we took pictures because the presentation of all the dishes, including dessert, what as impressive as the food itself.
The waitress was very attentive and kind - she was most gracious and helpful in her suggestions. The owner was a clear reflection of the richness of his creative dishes - his great spirit and clear joy for loving what he does radiated. He checked on us, as well, several times and made sure that we tried his homemade Persian ice cream. We forgot how full we were when we tried the generous sample that he shared with us. We will never forget his Persian ice cream - it was the most delicious and unique dessert we have had.
Bottom line: my fiancée and I are very picky eaters. We will spend a lot of money on food to ensure that it is of high quality. We are lucky that we do not live near Marjan - or we'd be there several times a week. On a scale from 1 - 10: Marjan hits it out of the park with a 10+++++More
Went for Sunday dinner. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and delicious. Lamb chops to die for and eggplant dishes were wonderful. Salmon kabob was juicy and flavorful. Ambiance ranked zero. They decided to vacuum the floors while we dined. One waitress did everything...- but with a smile. In urgent need of a paint job and refurb.More
