Rods has an excellent reputation and deservedly so! The Prime Rib is always good and the bar is a fantastic place..."Where everybody knows your name"! The wait staff professional. My parents were regulars here. Overall environment is classic road house. Very clean. Excellent wine selection. Here is my only rub keeping it from 5 stars. Our last visit to the... More

We have been going to Rod's for many years. The quality and consistency of this family owned restaurant never change. It has a full bar with music (which can get noisy at times) and multiple rooms for dining: upper and lower dining (noisiest)room and Train Car(quietest). The steaks and seafood appetizers are the most popular options and the reason we... More

We've eaten at Rod's a few times and always thoroughly enjoyed it. The steaks are very good, the wine selection is great and the side dishes are thoughtful and well prepared. All in all, it is everything you would expect from a traditional steak house but done to a high standard. You can eat in the main restaurant - a... More

Last visit was a while ago, but this is a classic traditional steakhouse. Of course, they do Surf and Turf well to earn the seafood grille name as well. My main concern at a Steakhouse is nail the temperature of my steak. Of course, it has to be a good steak, but let's assume that for a moment. At Rod's,... More

Everything in this restaurant is good. Old fashioned food like pot pie and hot turkey sandwich are great. Also good steaks. Great bar.

I had brunch here recently with a girlfriend and we really enjoyed ourselves. There is a lot to choose from - there is cheese and cold salads, meat carving station, omelet station, bagels and fixins (including lox, creamcheese, etc.), a variety of other hot dishes and a bunch of desserts. Its a little expensive, especially if you can't eat a... More

Rod's is close to the Convent Station railroad stop and adjacent to the Madison Hotel. Atmosphere is old style charm. We sat in something similar to a theatre box overlooking the main dining room, all adorned with crystal and chandeliers. Service was excellent; waiter quickly and smilingly fixed few errors made in our drink and meal orders and filled our... More

Reserved a table in the railroad car. Excellent food and service. Great! The atmosphere was fantastic. You can ask for just a table in the car or a much more intimate room in a car.

Rod's has lost much of the luster it was known for in the 80's. It used to be a true 5 star dining experience offering a unique culinary experience. Unfortunately, it is now an ordinary steakhouse with an active bar scene. Rod’s has an identity crisis...is it a bar with food or a fine dining establishment with a bar. Upon... More

March 14th and the storm had done its damage with people needing to get some great food and drinks at Rod's. The place was packed with people waiting and John Alexander Uribe, the Assistant Manager, took my order and hand delivered on time, 20 minutes promised, to my room at the Madison Hotel! That is integrity and the chicken parmesan... More

Description
Welcome to New Jersey's Legendary Steak House

Rod's Steak & Seafood Grille, an area landmark and winner of New Jersey Monthly's 'Best Steakhouse' award, offers lunch and dinner daily as well as the finest Sunday Brunch in New Jersey.

The restaurant's new design, rich wood paneling and highly polished brass, lends a classic elegance to the sophisticated atmosphere. For an intimate and unique experience, dinner aboard the private Parlour Cars is sure to be remembered. Formerly the private domain of the rich and famous, these beautifully refurbished, turn of the century railway cars are exquisitely complimented by the haute cuisine of Rod's esteemed Executive Chef.
