Afghan food is new to me, so this place was a nice surprise. Tried a variety of appetizers, then a lamb kabob. Everything was very good, although the rice could have been more flavorful. Next time I'll try one of their "special" rices. Prices about...More

Upon entering we were immediately greeted & I headed to the restroom to wash my hands... In very cold water (I let the water run for several minutes) & no paper towels in dispenser! No bread or cheese was provided or offered like other patrons...More

I can't believe I have never written a review for Pamir before. I have been going to this restaurant for years, but tonight it finally hit me. It was cold and damp, I had to stay late at work and just wanted something to eat...More

First visit & didn't no what to expect. Family run restaurant , service staff was very professional. The waitress suggested entrees. The food was very tasty served in portions more then ample. You must try the pumpkin ravioli, it was scrumptious! The saffron rice, WOW!...More

Second time here, but don't think I will return. Only three tables had people eating, yet the server was never on the floor. Food was good, but portions are on the small side and prices seem a bit steep. The eggplant appetizer was tasty, but...More

Never having had Afghani food, I was unsure what to expect at this restaurant on the main street. With window doors open onto the street, outside seating and a dim, ethnically decorated interior, you are introduced to a delightful experience. Waitstaff is welcoming and warm....More

We used to go to Pamir all the time. But about a year ago, they were bought by new owners and it's lost its mojo. Food's not as good, service not as good. Not going back unless I hear a great recommendation.

Had heard good things about Pamir, and was looking for an inexpensive place for dinner out with friends that might stand up to a good bottle of wine (place is BYO). If you go, bring a good bottle, the food is special and nicely presented....More

Visited shortly after the restaurant opened at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. Place was empty. We shared one hot appetizer ($8): Afghan turnovers (two pumpkin (Kadu) and two potato (Kachaloo)...small order, but tasty). To our surprise we then got two small, unannounced salads (not bad)....More

Description
Pamir is the name of a mountainous area in Central Asia mainly in Afghanistan once along the route of Marco Polo’s Silk Road and also inhabited by descendants of Alexander the Great’s troops. The region’s cuisine was fortunate to inherit many exotic spices and flavors of Central Asia and its surrounding countries with influence from the Far East, Middle East, Mediterranean and Russia. Pamir Restaurant was originally opened in NYC in 1979 and has maintained the same family ownership and great recipes. Enjoy a taste of our history!
