We tend to go on Birthday and similar events. The food is always amazing regardless of what is ordered. Staff has always been great. The only problem is that they are great, therefore they can be quite busy. With waits well over an hour. Weekends and holiday can be worse as far as crowd and wait like most well run... More

Whenever I need a quick lunch with consistent good food I stop at Freestones. Salads and sandwiches are great, good music and friendly atmosphere....

This place has been a favorite of ours for over thirty five years. Great food ,service & nice atmosphere . This historic building of brick ,brass & wood is very cool in itself. We have never had a bad meal at Freestones over all these years. Service is always the best too .Just a short walk up from The Whaling... More

In a historic old building in downtown New Bedford, Freestone's is iconic in Southeastern Massachusetts. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the place was jammed when we stopped for something to eat after a few hours of intense Christmas shopping. Everyone was in the spirit of the holidays, We ordered a bowl of Chili and some Chicken Quesidilla. The Chile arrived onluke... More

Once again, I had dinner at Freestones during my annual trip to New Bedford. The seafood is fresh, and the atmosphere is cozy and charming. Courtney provided outstanding service! I'm looking forward to eating there again next year! Two rabbit ears up!! (\ (\ ( -.-) o_(")(")

We went with a group. The chowder was reported to be very good. I ordered the baked cod which needed salt, pepper, and spice. It was terribly bland. The French fries were ok. My table mates were not impress either.

We were in New Bedford some years ago (2008, how time flies),on a trip through New England. Our B&B host recommended this place for dinner. We had such an excellent meal ( my wife had scallops, I enjoyed a huge plate of 'New Orleans meatloaf), that we came back the night after. And the one after that. Everything came together... More
