What a great place! Serves fun healthy food, great atmosphere, casual, patio is dog friendly with their own water bowls, and the day we were there - must have been the senior cycling tour - Lots of older folks in their bicycle gear enjoying a break. Order at the front and wait for your food back at your table. Very... More

The restaurant had a jetsons cartoon feel to it. The theme really came together throughout the establishment and the food was really good. I had the shrimp tacos and would definitely recommend. It's organic healthy choices was almost overshadowed by the seconds it took me in bewilderment to figure out which restroom to use as they have gender neutral restrooms.

Flying Star has lots of fresh food selections, including gluten free choices (try the carrot cake!). The staff is friendly and helpful, the indoor atmosphere is a little crowded, but everyone has a good time. We particularly like the huge outdoor partially covered patio with giant fireplace. There are special places to hook your dog's leash and fresh water &... More

Good, contemporary and healthy food -- but you can still get some excellent desserts. And the room is open and inviting. Also, it is right next to a great bookstore called Bookworks.

Good recipes, but often poorly executed. The food is very good about 60% of the time. However, expect your food to often taste like whatever was on the grill beforehand (ex. hamburger-flavored toast, garlicky pancakes). Some of the staff is great, but others seem poorly trained. This is especially frustrating because I've always thought that the Rio Grande location was... More

I have been to the Rio Grande location of Flying Star probably 10 times over the past few years, mostly when I drive down from Colorado. Casual and yet upscale. This is a neighborhood cafe or bistro where some come to read, use their laptop or have a casual meal with friends. The meals I have had were excellent. The... More

Flying Star is a local favorite and has something for almost everyone in your troop. Specializing in what we used to call "California Style" cuisine, you can order at the counter and they bring your food (or pasty & coffee) out to your table when it's ready. The food choices are strong on healthy, natural, chicken - fish - beef... More

The Flying Star is a great place for a casual lunch. The food is good and it has a unique atmosphere. There is always a crowd but you can generally get a table and served fairly quickly.
