I have been coming to Larue's since the late 60's and not mucho has changed, except the interior, still great Mexican food and the some of the best tamales in town and still handmade. Chips and Salsa were brought to the table, the Salsa was not very hot at all for me. The squeeze bottle Salsa on the table was... More

We always make this our final stop when in Tucson. Having lunch and grabbing a bunch of tamales to take home. They have an interesting menu. Different than your usual mexican restaurant. Small place, so might need to look at off hours.

This Tucson favorite, since 1922, is one of the best places in southern Arizona for great Mexican food. Sonoran style food follows a canon all its own, heavy on meat and cheese, lacking the green chili so common in New Mexico. Lerua's is a Sonoran style eatery where everything is prepared perfectly and there is always a new item or... More

This restaurant was recommended to us, so we decided to try it. when we walked in, no one seemed to notice, although there were at least four employees at the counter within view. Someone finally noticed and said "for here or to go?" We said "for here" and were told to choose a table. Waitress brought a menu and water.... More

Absolutely spectacular food. Everyone at our table of five loved the food. I had a spicy habanero taco. I always complain about food that claims to be really hot, as it is never hot enough. The server cautioned me when ordering it, I loved it. I even topped it off with their homemade extra hot sauce which was great. The... More

We found this place through TripAdvisor while out running errands. This is now our favorite in Tucson, maybe everywhere. Immediately really liked the salsa with the complimentary chips. I had a fish taco and the green chili tamale. Both were delish. My husband was tempted by the ghost chili pork. They suggested trying it first. The chef even came out... More

Though it's been around for a long time, my family recently ate at Lerua's for the first time. Everyone was very happy with the taste of their meals, and the service we received was top notch.

Lerua is an unassuming little restaurant that's been turning out terrific Mexican food since 1922. On Broadway near UofA, Lerua is renowned for green sweet corn tamales, with good reason. I had the shrimp-tamale entree this evening - sauteed shrimp in tomatillo salsa on top of a green sweet corn tamale. Everything about the dish worked very well. My companion... More

I had heard that this place had very good tamales and I was not disappointed. The other items we sampled were also good. The food is definitely a cut above the typical Mexican fare of Tucson, which is saying something. The restaurant itself is certainly nothing special and it is fairly small. It was busy when we were there, but... More

amazing food exceptional service. Michael and crew showed up well in advance to scout out the location, arrived promptly ahead of schedule. Assisted in set up of room and the staff went above and beyond to insure that the event went off perfectly. Food was outstanding, their green corns are the bomb!
