If you are looking for a nice spot with excellent drinks go to the Esquire! Yes drinks will cost you a tenner or more but each cocktail is hand crafted (aka fancy) and if you choose correctly you only need one. They can be strong....More

This is a great place for a happy hour. The portions a just big enough to tide one over until dinner, but not too small. The three deviled eggs are piled high with creamy, smooth filling and topped with incredible pickled red peppercorns on a...More

Oldest bar on the Riverwalk. Tons of atmosphere, well crafted margarita and knowledgeable bartender. Menu looked very interesting, but weren't ready to eat.

The Esquire is a long-established fixture in San Antonio. It boasts the longest bar in town, but downstairs on the river, the decor is amazing. The owners have done a remarkable job of keeping this landmark, well, a landmark.

Popped into this bar from a recommendation from a friend. From the river walk it looks very unassuming but it's kind of cool inside. Though I didn't eat it looks like it has good food. The prices for drinks were on par with other local...More

Their chef style burgers and sandwiches are crafted with flavors to satisfy any burger enthusiast’s craving. This restaurant is located on the River Walk and the architecture is classic 1930s. The service is fine, but not exceptional. The reason to go here is for the...More

I have gone to Esquire during my last two visits to San Antonio. I simply love it. The Texas vibe, the specialty cocktails, and the great bar snacks keep me coming back. My first visit was with my adult family and the second visit I...More

I saw children there during the day. I would guess it is more of a bar crowd in the evening

Description
One of the Top 25 Bars in America, The Esquire Tavern opened in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition - a beloved San Antonio watering hole ever since. When it comes to choosing the best Riverwalk bars to spend your time, atmosphere certainly matters. Our legendary establishment is the quintessential downtown bar: dark, cool, redolent with history, and serving cold beer, swanky cocktails, and excellent food. Don't believe us? Step right up and sink your teeth into some handmade SA comfort food including Organic Sirloin Burgers, Crispy Chile Salted Fries, Big Red Empanadas, and Fried Apple Pie with Bourbon Carmel Sauce made from scratch! Now that you trust us a bit more....feel free to stay a while and enjoy hand crafted cocktails using the best of spirits and freshest of juices from the Margarita to the Moscow Mule. Beer lovers, indulge with over 10 Texas/regional brews on tap and enjoy the ice cold bottled beers you love.
