Pete spells taco T-A-K-O, but what they lack in grammar, they make up in cooking. Mexican can be expensive on the River Walk, so we headed a bit north of the area to eat lunch. The three of us ate big lunches and walked out...for under $50 with tip. We started with chips and questions, I had a big plate of shrimp fajitas with guacamole, rice, and refried beans. Son #1 had beef fajitas with the same sides, #2 son had 3 really large tacos, including a Carne asada, a chicken, and a bean and cheese, with 3 drinks. All plates were very good, although they could have been hotter temperature wise(it was a cool, windy day which may have affectedthis). Overall, I'll eat there again, but when it's a warmer day.More

Great food! Can be crowded at noon. Love the Kikko plate, wife loves the chili rellenos. Full bar, wished they stayed open later.

Portions were generous. We ordered the chicken puffy taco and chilaquiles (which came with a side of 4 pieces of tortillas). It was a Thursday lunch, so while there were patrons, it wasn't particularly busy.

Las Comida es Bueno! The food is good! Authentic, delicious and served with big smiles, everything was fantastic! Congrats on 45 years; you deserve all the praise you get! Easy 15 minute walk from the Riverwalk Hilton, we'll go again for the grilled fish tacos...with fresh mango salsa. We 've tried em everywhere we travel, and hats off to you because yours are The Best!More

Food was bland. Puffy taco was super greasy. Expected more when I saw locals coming out with rake out trays.

This restaurant came highly recommended but I was very disappointed. The rice was really wet and the puffy tacos tasted like there was absolutely no seasoning on them.

I would give them a 3 out of 5 honestly. The breakfast tacos were ok. Not the best I've had in San Antonio but certainly far from the worst. If I was within walking distance and had no car, I'd probably come back again I...had your run-of-the-mill breakfast tacos The Queso was very good (some of the best I've had) The service is very good here (the only reason why I gave them 4 stars). Our waitress on Sunday (Cecilia) worked very hard to keep us happy. I noticed and appreciated that.More

There is a reason the line runs out the door on Sat/Sun morning. Arguably the best tacos in town. Be prepared for a 30 minute wait, but great service. The prices are great, the service is personable and timing and the food is sensational. If...you’re a local and never been - make the time. If you’re visiting, don’t miss breakfast at Pete’s!More

We ordered takeout here for breakfast on the first morning of our stay at the nearby Hotel Indigo. My husband, thinking that the breakfast tacos would be tiny like the ones you get at the trendy new places, ordered 3. When we opened up the...bag, we realized one breakfast taco would have been more than enough...they're huge! But when he started eating, it was so good that he overate, gobbling down the second one, too (the third one he saved for the next day). Our daughter ordered the fajitas plate (delicious) and I ordered the enchiladas verdes (also delicious). The sides that come with the plates are wonderfully fluffy Mexican rice and refried beans with that incredible taste that only comes from the use of fresh lard. On a four day trip we ate here three times: it was that good. And San Antonio has no shortage of excellent restaurants. But unlike a lot of those other restaurants, the prices at Pete's Tako House are more than reasonable. The only down side is that this restaurant closes at 3 p.m., so this is only a breakfast and lunch place. We'll be back on any trip to San Antonio.More

This was my husband’s favourite taco joint in San Antonio, it was my second favourite ( Taco Haven was my 1st place ) Food was great and service efficient, think I just choose the wrong tacos. I had egg and chorizo, I just didn’t like...the egg, it was too over cooked for me, but also had the shrimp one on corn taco and really enjoyed it. We would go back for sureMore

We thought we'd hit gold after reading the reviews and seeing how busy it was (30 min wait) but the best thing about it was grabbing a beer at the brewery next door while waiting. I feel most the reviews are based on value for...money, and I can't argue with it. Big portions, not bad prices and very filling. But therein lies the rub. When tacos arrive in big, soft flour tacos (I usually find tacos arrive in smaller corn tortillas) and stuffed with soft meats, without much taste - and nothing else added but the soft meats (we had to ask for onions and cilantro - and they didn't bring lime) then it's filling, but not really great. We all left stuffed after 3 tacos but all underwhelmed. The guac was pretty good. I do appreciate this is Tex-Mex and not Mexican - but I just found it stodgy, and tasteless.More

We stopped here for breakfast tacos before driving back home. Parking is $3-5 (depends on the day)in the lot behind the restaurant and you can pay on your phone. The tacos were big and delicious. We probably ate too many because they were so good....Nobody wanted to stop for lunch because breakfast had lasted! The green salsa on the table is tasty and has some kick to it! The tacos are super affordable (less than $2 each) and for a family of 3 we spent only a little more than we would for fast food breakfast for waaaay better food.More

We parked behind the building. It’s self pay and $3.00. We left our car there for several hours after we ate while we walked to the Alamo and Riverwalk. I ordered the pancake plate with scrambled eggs, bacon and hash brown cubes. It was a...huge serving, which I could not possibly finish. My husband had the fajita eggs. As son as we were seated, a bowl of chips and salsa was delivered, then our food came quickly. It was exceptionally good. The service was outstanding. It was interesting to people watch because there was a mix of business people having a meeting, Moms with kids and construction workers. I certainly wish we lived close enough to go back!More

We came to Pete's for lunch and tried a variety of their tacos. They make their own tortillas, and they were warm, fluffy, and delicious. I had the beef fajita and the picadillo. I was surprised that they came with meat only - no lettuce,...tomato, onion, pico de gallo. The meat was good, but having a fresh element or some veggies would have made them even better. My husband had the barbacoa taco that was also meat only and a breakfast taco with scrambled egg and bacon. The breakfast taco was delicious. Next time, I'd stick with those as that seems to be a specialty here. I also had one of their margaritas, and it was excellent, would definitely get one of those again. The place is small and unassuming with a long history. Nice that they give you complimentary chips and salsa. We had to pay for metered parking on the street - I think we only paid thirty cents, so you may want to bring some change with you if you go. There's also a large parking lot where you can pay to park for a few bucks. Service was good and friendly. Hours are limited; not open for dinner on the days we were there. Would definitely come back for breakfast in the future. Prices were super affordable, a nice break from the more expensive spots on the river.More

Excellent Mexican food with a large menu and daily specials. Low-key setting added to the experience for us. Service was quick and delicious. We had the Pete's Special and some carne asada and chorizo street tacos. Rice and beans very tasty as was the salsa....Service was quick and very pleasant. Pay parking but it's inexpensive if you can park on the street. Meter charges 30 cents per hour so you will need coins. Our server made change for us. I would plan to return.More
