We selected Biga to host our party of six business associates based on reviews, as we had never been there. In two visits to San Antonio, we have had several meals in restaurants on the River Walk. By far, this was our best experience. From making the reservation through our departure after the meal, the service was great, friendly and... More
The food was ok. Our service was poor. Waiter had poor manners, got the order wrong and drained the room of all positive energy. We were jealous of other dinners who had better servers. The food was not special although meat quality was fine.
I'm nor sure I can add much to the high praise of others and while I haven't eaten in many San Antonio restaurants, I can't imagine many places topping Biga. First and foremost, the food was terrific - first rate ingredients locally sourced, perfectly prepared with nicely balanced tastes. Chicken-fried Oysters were plump and moist; lamb chops perfectly grilled and... More
This was easily one of the best meals I've ever had and I eat in a lot of nice restaurants. Our appetizer was a charcuterie plate that was glorious. Just the right amount of cheeses and pates with nice sauces. My husband had the Hill Country venison with grilled quail. He is a hunter and eats venison all the time.... More
Had a big group here and the food and service could not have been any better. The chef heard we had two kids with us and made them a surprise dessert. The atmosphere was great and I will definitely be back!
This is one of the places I had looked forward to visiting on my trip to San Antonio. I had read about this restaurant for years. Maybe the hype was too much. I was disappointed in just about everything except the entree, which was delicious. The decor seems dated to me and very strange--what's with the gourds? It was so... More
When the head chef has been nominated for 7 James Beard awards, you expect a great meal, and Biga on the Banks lived up to expectations. We had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and shared a dessert and all 5 dishes were exceptional. We had salmon nachos that were subtle and delicious. We also shared a scallop appetizer that was... More
This restaurant was amazing. It serves New American cuisine and has an extensive wine list. I had the 8oz steak with plantain , corn pudding and chimichurri . The waiter was well informed and knew the ingredients of the glaze which contained mushroom so was off limits for me. The chef then made a special batch of non mushroom stock... More

Hello! This will be our first (of many, I hope! :>) visit to San Antonio. My husband and I are coming to celebrate this birthday (2/9) and we will be there on Feb. 11 for dinner. From the reviews I have read, it seems that you all do something special for birthdays and such -- can you please confirm this? I appreciate your quick response.
