If you are looking for a civilized white linen restaurant on Riverwalk look no further than the Fig Tree. The outside tables sit on terraces above the Riverwalk so none of that noise and business. Ask for a table in the gazebo or the 2 top in front of it. Anyway- the menu is not huge but so tasty. Probably... More

Charming venue in La Villita with lovely views of the riverwalk and boats passing by. Elegant continental food and excellent wine list to pair with. The bib wedge salad, steak and sea bass were exception and the bernaise was to die for. Super decadent! The sea bass was incredibly fresh and done to perfection, melted in your mouth. The blood... The Fig Tree is a fine dining San Antonio restaurant and is right on the Riverwalk. It has been there since 1971 serving delicious food. I had wonderful scallops (evening special) served with excellent risotto and husband had duck confit. We had checked the menu the night before and read about making confit. It takes 2 weeks to make it!... More

Had the opportunity to dine in a private room upstairs. Service was very attentive and remembered every detail of the orders without being overbearing. The crab cake was excellent as was the main course, Tournedos Rossini. The filet was perfectly cooked, the sauce well-constructed, while the foie gras on top added just the right touch of succulent decadence. Only one... More

Well this was the strange experience. This is quite an expensive restaurant that seems to have more staff than it needs. The menu was very limited, lots of steak choices but little else. It does have a nice patio and was busy on our arrival. There is an extensive wine list, I never bother looking at foreign wines in the... More

On a beautiful night, The Fig Tree is a fabulous place to have dinner. It can be entered from La Villita or from the Riverwalk. Guests can sit at clothed tables and have a lovely view of Riverwalk activities. Althought it is a bit pricey compared to some other Riverwalk restuarants, it is well worth it. The food is upscale... This is our 2nd year to dine here for New Year's Eve. The food was exemplary. We were served by Jeanette, who took excellent care of us. We came early and were fortunate enough to get one of the three window tables.

The crab cake appetizer was amazing! We loved the atmosphere, very intimate setting. Every question we had about anything on the menu was answered by our knowledgeable waitress Jeannette. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a nice romantic evening with your significant other, you should definitely try this restaurant. They do... More

We went to the Fig Tree on New Year's Eve, which is our anniversary. The main room, in which we were seated, had only ten or twelve tables so it was quiet. The waiter was very professional and the food was good. Since it was New Year's Eve, the normal menu was not used. Our meal consisted of a five... More

Description
Whether dining in the cozy interior or on the outdoor villa-style terrace overlooking the San Antonio River, exquisite food and impeccable service are mainstays of the Fig Tree Restaurant. Crisp linens drape tables set with fine china and sparkling crystal in elegant yet homey surroundings.Delicate, highly composed dishes such as Tournedos Rossini with Perigourdine Sauce, Seared Nori Tempura Yellow Fin Tuna and Cold Water Australian Lobster with Drawn Butter are menu stand-outs. Tableside flamed desserts include Bananas Foster over Vanilla Ice Cream and traditional Baked Alaska.Historically referred to as the Gray-Guilbeau House, the building is named for James Gray and French consul Francois Guilbeau who bought the house from Gray in 1853. The house saw many owners, including the Henshaw family, and was the last of the private dwellings in La Villita. The Phelps family purchased the home in December of 1970 as their personal residence. Visitors to the home were enthralled with its historical significance and ambiance. Prompted by this the family voted to share the house with all, and the Fig Tree Restaurant was born.Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phelps opened the Fig Tree Restaurant on March 17, 1971, and the family has continuously operated the restaurant ever since. We sincerely hope you enjoy this old home and its surroundings as much as those who have lived and dined here in the past.Around the corner from the Hilton Hotel, next to Little Rhein Steak House
