Stopped by for dinner to eat on the patio just before sundown, which was astonishingly beautiful. My server was fast and courteous and my dinner, the La Fonda Special, was great. The tamale and cheese enchiladas were especially good!

This place was fantastic. The queso fondito was awesome and the La Fonda Special was great too. We had five people at the table and everyone raved about what they got. The duck tacos were a table favorite as well. The atmosphere was great and there was the option for indoor and outdoor seating. The wait staff were very friendly... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Whenever we are in SA we make a point of eating here. Great TexMex, gourmet Latin dishes and cocktails. Old school, upscale San Antonio vibe in a wonderful old historic neighborhood.

Ordered fajita combo of shrimp and beef ( leaving out chicken) from rude and ignorant waiter priced at $21 with waiter saying they add more shrimp if chicken not required---no problem there except waiter did not say it went to $24. Questioned waiter on account and he returned saying management would not change it---guess what---took $6 off tip to make... More

I was looking for a new Tex Mex destination in San Antonio after being disappointed by Mi Tierra the last couple of visits. I was not disappointed by the food at La Fonda. The queso with taco meat was heavenly and the tamales were first rate. The patio at La Fonda on Main is spectacular.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was a little girl and it has always been great. It is one of our favorite restaurants on New Years Eve. But last Saturday something was definitely off. For lunch the menu is different with breakfast offerings and a few standards. We all ordered breakfast or specials. My husbands breakfast tacos... More

We started our meal with duck mini chalupas. Everyone at our table of six had a different entree and all were delicious. Mine was a delicate Mahi Mahi with just the perfect seasonings. Two in our group were from the Midwest and they enjoyed the patio ambiance and delighted in their food.

Tried it on our visit to San Antonio based on reviews as were looking for some Tex mex style food. The food was good!!! The sauces were different from what we get in California and were very flavorful and was interesting to see the variety. The place is open, big, nice atmosphere and has very nice outside seating as well.... More

We enjoyed our dinner here very much! Wonderful food and service. It has a lot of nice free parking across the street. We sat in the back, outside, and it was so pleasant! (Multiple fans providing a breeze.) Great alternative after a day on the Riverwalk. Our waiter suggested we go over to the light show at the San Fernando... More

We had a reservation for 6 and were waiting and waiting and waiting to be seated. Turns out you are assigned to a table so even though our reservations were for 6:45 and there were vacant tables (waiting for their assigned customers who weren't there yet) we were told sorry, that's the way they works. After an unpleasant wait we... More
