Came for breakfast and they met our expectations, our server was friendly and attentive, food was hot and made to order. I liked the family feel and the history of the place. Meal size was a bit small though.

While we had to wait some time before we were waited on I can understand why they are so busy. Great place to eat breakfast. The deli looked great.
Great home made root beer in frozen mugs and the second glass is free. Do not miss this. Good service. Not a long wait.
And why would something on the river be available? So enjoyed the best Schnitzel going with a beer and potato. The waitstaff was off and the draft was flat, so had to settle for a bottled beer. Still good food!
We arrived about 9:30 AM in the middle of Christmas week. They accommodated our group of seven immediately. Shortly thereafter the line up was out the door. Terrific hearty breakfasts for all including choice of biscuits, spiced sausage and cinnamon buns from the bakery offering....More
Thank you for the five star review!

Thank you! What a fantastic (and accurate) five star review!
Sadly, our breakfast was served barely warm. It was cold after first bite —Couldn’t eat it! It must have sat out before being served. Waitress took it away to warm it up but didn’t bring it back at all. Credited us for only half of...More
So sorry to hear about this. I hope you were able to talk to a manager so they could directly address the situation. And we hope you will give us another try.
Traditional Texas Hill Country fare. Great breakfast, hearty lunches. Split pea soup and potato pancakes are the specialty. They make deli sandwiches to order. Good German beers. Don't be surprised if you see people drinking beer at breakfast.
Thank you so much! It is true, we are one of the few local favorites in downtown San Antonio. Glad you enjoyed that aspect.
Good Breakfast - nothing fancy, but it was good and the price was right. Loved the old diner feel. Our server Lisa was awesome. Always ready to refill your coffee cup (coffee was really good!) and went out of her way to make sure that...More
The people are friendly in this German deli. Many locals frequent this cafe. The food is delicious. Even though the restaurant was busy, we were looked after and the food didn't take long to be served. Do try this place when you visit San Antonio
